New to the EQS Club! 2022 EQS 580 - Tips, Tricks & a Few Questions

Hello everyone! I'm ecstatic to be joining the club. I got an amazing deal on a 2022 EQS 580 and I'm loving it so far.

I've been driving a Cadillac Lyriq for the past two years. It's been great, but I wanted a change. The EQS is on another level. It's a little smaller than the Lyriq, but it feels like I'm driving a spaceship.

There is A LOT to learn, so I'd love any advice, tips, tricks, hidden features, or settings I should know about.

I'm thinking I'll get the Connect+ services. It's $243 CAD for the year. One thing I can't figure out is how to turn on the climate control from my phone. I like to preheat or cool the car before getting in. Is that a standard feature, or does it require Connect+?

I've attached a photo of my 2022 window sticker. The car seems very well optioned, what do you think of the spec? I was surprised by a couple of things:

There's no fragrance atomizer in the glove box. I thought that came with one of the packages on my car.

There are no rear window sunshades. I thought those came with the Executive Rear Seat Package.

It doesn't have the automatic opening/closing front doors. I figured that was probably the case before buying it, but I'd love to know if anyone has successfully retrofitted them.

Any other features I should check for or settings I should change?

Thanks!

Has Aeroplan been massively devalued, or am I just getting unlucky?

I've been collecting Aeroplan points for years and have redeemed them for business class to Asia and the Middle East several times.

For example, we flew YYZ to DXB in Emirates Business in 2024 for 105k points one way. Now I'm seeing the same flights at around 250k points one way.

Thailand seems even worse. In previous years we flew EVA Air Business to BKK for around 125k points per person. Now I rarely see EVA availability, and the options I'm finding are mostly Air Canada or Air Canada + ANA, costing around 2 million points total for a family of four.

Has Aeroplan changed that much over the last couple of years, or am I searching incorrectly? Has partner availability, especially EVA, dried up?

Curious what strategies people are using now. Are you booking much earlier, using different routes, or have you moved to another program?
