NJ homeowners... are your utility bills (especially electric) getting unpredictable too?

NJ homeowners... anyone else noticing electric bills being kind of unpredictable lately?

mine have been pretty inconsistent over the past year. some months are normal, then others jump quite a bit even though nothing major has changed at home.

i’ve been trying to figure out if it’s mostly seasonal usage, rate changes, or just how NJ utilities are structured, but it’s not super clear from the bill itself.

curious if other homeowners in NJ are seeing the same thing or if it varies a lot by area.

anyone else getting blindsided by utility bills?

please tell me i’m not the only one opening utility bills lately and just staring at the numbers for a second.

i feel like I haven’t changed much, but somehow it keeps creeping up. anyone else in South Jersey dealing with this? what’s actually helped?

thinking about going solar in NJ… worth it?

my electric bill in NJ has been hitting harder lately, so i’ve been looking into solar. for anyone here who already made the switch, what’s one thing you wish you knew before signing up?

trying to avoid learning the hard way...

Just tried a solar forecasting tool... 2036 projections are wild

i ran some numbers on a solar forecasting tool and seeing how my projected electricity use stacks up against solar output in 2036 is… honestly, kind of eye-opening.

has anyone else played around with something like this? would love to hear your thoughts or experiences.

why are electric bills in South Jersey suddenly so high? anyone else noticing this?

ours used to stay pretty reasonable, but the last few bills have been noticeably higher and we haven’t really changed anything. we’re not running the AC nonstop or anything either, which is why it’s confusing.....

i tried searching the subreddit first to see if anyone already brought this up, but figured I’d ask again since bills seem to keep changing. just curious what other people around SJ are paying lately and if anyone found anything that actually helped lower it a bit.

anyone else in NJ suddenly paying attention to stuff they never cared about before? lol

i used to just pay the electric bill and move on. now i’m adjusting the thermostat by 1 degree, unplugging random things, and turning lights off like i work for the utility company...

feels like groceries, gas, and utilities all jumped at once.

curious what small changes people made that actually helped save money a bit lately.

what’s the most “wow I’m really a homeowner now” moment you’ve had?

mine was realizing I get excited over lower utility bills now... lol

feels like every month there’s a new random expense or repair popping up.

curious what homeowner moment made you realize… yep, this is my life now.

Florida AC: keeps me alive, bankrupts me... helpppp

living in Florida has me questioning life... AC runs 24/7, humidity is nonstop, and my electric bill feels like a humidity tax.

anyone actually lower bills with smart thermostats or energy-saving tricks?

curious about solar too... are “Free Solar” deals legit? does the 30% tax credit really expire? even if you cover 100% of your power, Duke Energy still charges a $30 minimum... does anyone hit $0?

do panels survive storms, and is a battery worth it? looking for honest answers, no sales hype.
