New sub for me, made this guy as a mock up for a larger project.

Was suggested this sub from another wood working sub. Been checking out the posts here. Good things, lots of good things.

Here is me sharing a mock up i started this weekend.

I got room to improve here. Best place to start I say. Carved marquetry is becoming a new goal maybe.

Evil Morty

Got ahold of a scroll saw. More like using a sewing machine than I was expecting. The animation style of the show is pretty forgiving and the pieces not lining up exact make it seem right to me.

Who is on your list as the top 5 sci-fi villains across tv/film/gaming?

I have always been a fan of Sci-fi villains. Vader, Batty, Predator. As a hobbyist woodworker I am looking for my next project and am thinking of making a series of wood art featuring the top ten villains of sci-fi. I would really like to get some ideas outside my personal preferences and was hoping this subreddit might share their opinion on the subject to help me out.

Hey look at me I’m scrap wood pixel Mario

Cherry, walnut, maple, oak, mulberry. One inch tiles that are half inch deep. titebond lll on a lauan plywood with a walnut frame.

Perfect? Nope. I learn how to do things then forget, then try to do things and get pissed I forgot how to do things.

I should have cut the wood into long square dowels so all types of wood were all the exact same dimensions of square, then sliced off one tile at a time from the rod.

This was scrap wood so wasn’t possible, I cut them all as tiles first then tried to make them matching square when that failed, big mistake. But mommy didn’t raise a quitter, she raised a complainer, so I got it done and now you all gotta hear about it. the end result is tiles that are not exact and fit poorly.

Wanted to share if anyone wants to take a swing.

Made my boy light up though, he is trying to conquer all the Mario games this summer break.

I am poor, stupid, and have zero qualifications. should I run for governor?

Is it possible? In today’s society could I, without affiliation to either political party, think tanks, globalist billionaires,,,,,

I do not know where they or how they find people to run for office but the people they get always have baggage.

What about a candidate that has no baggage? Someone who is simple for all the right reasons.

Tell me why I would not win as governor. Like I said, remember I am poor and stupid so let’s not get to wordy here.

Poly finish not drying smooth, what should I try?

I used mini wax polyurethane warm ultra flat, there are visible rises. It is a very small dimple effect when I wipe my hand across. I have five wood species going on, it mainly is happening on the walnut and cherry tiles. Should I sand it back to flat and try again or will I run into the same issue?

Not sure if it’s the sealer gone bad and binding up, the different wood absorption rates, or I did a junk job on application and didn’t sand enough between layers.

What is reddits thoughts ?
