Ortofon Blue 2M - stylus bent?

Should I replace the stylus? It’s on a Dual 1219…I’ve seen photos of crooked/bent Ortofon styluses and mine doesn’t look so bad, but I want to be sure I’m not damaging my records.

If bent, I might even try a different brand of cartridge.

Just picked up this Genesis Silver A of FB Marketplace for 200$

It’s my understanding that these particular grills have a cult following. I feel like I just bought a vintage McIntosh amplifier. I’ve been using a Weber charcoal grill for years but never a propane one. Every propane grill like a Charbroil I’ve used has lasted maybe four years tops. Hoping I can get 20 years out of this with some TLC.

It took me a minute to figure out how to attach the tank.

Not one dent on the lid or on the door. Looks very clean on the inside. Works great, but this brown goon fell out somehow when I was connecting the hose to the tank.

Kzoo record stores

Where does a person go to buy serious punk and jazz records around here? Any record stores that take trades for store credit? Should I just buy records when I go down to Chicago?

Went to Satellite Records a couple of weeks ago. Was weirded out by Africa Bambaataa in the center of the mural of musicians in the front of the store…if you know about this creep, you gotta wonder why it’s not covered up. They do have legit hip hop records though.

One thing I’ve immediately noticed from living in Kalamazoo the last two months is nobody cares about…

Derek Jeter…it’s like he never moved here at the age of four and played high school baseball here.

And as a New Yorker. I don’t care. I’m a Mets fan. It’s just an observation. Maybe if Jeter played for the Tigers.

Took my 38mm KFA for a swim today at the lake…

My buddy that I barely take off my wrist did great. I’ve never taken into the shower because I’m not an idiot. Didn’t go diving in the lake of course. Just swan and jumped off the dock a few times.

I like to think, if this is a field watch designed for the military and ruggedness during the First and Second World War, then it should be more than capable of 100 meters (as as some fancy people say 10 bar) of water resistance and some swimming.

What’s the best pizza around here…?

I just moved here. I come from two cities, one where the best pizzaiolo in the United States hails and the other, the other American capital that isn’t New Haven. I didn’t move here for the pizza of course and it’s not a big deal to me. I went to this place downtown in this awesome old historic building. It was called Bimbo’s. It was pretty mid. At least the crust didn’t have any burnt cornmeal. The space was pretty cool and I would go back for a quick lunch just because the people who worked there were nice and I liked the atmosphere. One place my wife’s family seems to love is Bilbo’s. I don’t mean to be a snob, but it was awful.

I would think in a small lively and cultured city such as Kalamazoo there would be at least one brick oven or “artisanal” pizza place. What about Detroit style pizza?

Impressions so far with food: The best meal I’ve had so far was at Zooroona. My five year son who is a picky eater ate all his chicken shawarma. I’m going to go back a few times because there’s plenty of things on the menu I I want to try. A quick search on Google Maps reveals a lot of great middle eastern restaurants. Last weekend, out in the country at a farm stand I bought this incredible strawberry rhubarb pie. The Root Beer Stand was gross. Super low quality franks. The Coney place downtown was good though. Though I’m from NYC so there’s only one Coney to me. The hibachi at Sakura 2 was way too salty but still better than the average Benihana! And the sushi rolls were decent enough and cheap.
