Celibacy, Psychic Development, Intuition & Staying centered

I’ve noticed a lot of people talk about celibacy from a place of frustration or even hatred toward sex, men, or women. For me, it’s been much more about staying centered and understanding myself.

Over the past couple of years of celibacy, I’ve become increasingly intuitive and sensitive to other people’s emotions, moods, and subtle shifts. Sometimes I even feel like I can pick up on thoughts or feelings before they’re expressed.

Whether others see that as heightened intuition, awareness, or something more spiritual, I know the experience has become stronger for me.

I also think it’s important to distinguish biological sex, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, and pronouns.

XX and XY are associated with typical female and male development, while sexual orientation, gender identity, & gender expression are separate concepts.

Regardless of sex or orientation, people can deeply connect, hurt, & eventually walk away from one another. Celibacy has helped me step outside of that cycle and remain grounded in myself.

Instead of directing all of my energy toward sexual relationships, I’ve had more space for self-awareness, intuitive development, personal & career growth.

For me, celibacy isn’t about hating sex or anyone else — it’s about staying centered within myself, especially as these intuitive abilities continue to develop.

Has anyone else experienced a stronger sense of inner awareness through celibacy?

What 3 Years of Celibacy Has Taught Me as an Intuitive

I’ve been celibate for about three years total — one year in 2020, and then two years continuously since 2024.

One of the biggest things I’ve noticed is how much clearer my intuition feels when I’m not dating. When I was on dating apps, I felt overwhelmed by what I experienced as other people’s energy. I would interact with someone and later realize how much I was emotionally affected by the interaction. Sometimes it was difficult to tell what I was actually feeling versus what I was picking up from someone else.

Stepping away from dating also gave me the space to recognize unhealthy patterns in myself and in the connections I was choosing. I was able to detach, reflect, and actually heal instead of continuing to repeat those patterns.

Since choosing celibacy, I’ve created much more space to hear & connect with myself.

I feel more grounded, more discerning, and more aware of subtle things. My intuitive abilities feel stronger—not necessarily because celibacy creates intuition, but because I’m less distracted and less overwhelmed by outside influences.

For me, celibacy has become less about simply abstaining from sex and more about protecting my peace, strengthening my discernment, and learning to trust what I sense. The biggest lesson has been realizing that sometimes when you stop giving so much attention to romantic connections, you become much more available to yourself.

Good luck on your journeys & may you experience all the gifts that celibacy may offer you!

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Has anyone here built a small home as their first home instead of buying a traditional house?
I'm considering building a small home (possibly a tiny home or a modest custom-built house) as my first property and I'm wondering how realistic it is from a financial and legal standpoint.

How difficult was it to get financing, permits, and land? Did it end up costing more or less than you expected? Would you recommend it as a first-home option?

I'd love to hear about your experiences, challenges, and any lessons learned.
