Yesterday’s statement from RCPsych is very reassuring and we should be emailing our MPs and our new health secretary letting them know what Royal Colleges think. Don’t delay it till last minute when decision is made.
An easy tool to contact your local MP and highlight the impracticality and unfairness of requiring 5 years of NHS experience to qualify for the priority group in medical training recruitment.
It only takes a few minutes to complete the form and let your MP know why this policy could have a significant impact on doctors who have already contributed to the NHS.

So I have both vodaphone and 3 sims in my phone. The vida phone gets full signals while 3 gets 1 or none and isn’t usable. Why is this happening after 3 and vodaphone merger. Should both networks be receiving same signals?
Dear Applicant,
Earlier in the year, you were informed that, based on the information you provided in your Oriel application form, your prioritisation status had been assessed as not in the priority group.
You are on the reserve list in a specialty (or specialties) that will not be readvertising in Round 3.
As there are sufficient numbers of appointable applicants on the reserve list who have yet to receive offers, many specialties have decided not to readvertise in Round 3 but will instead use the reserve list from the previous round to appoint to any vacancies that arise.
If your circumstances have changed, meaning that you should now be in the priority group, you can request a review of your status.
If you believe your priority group should be updated, please complete the form below and follow the instructions contained within it to submit any relevant supporting evidence:
MS Forms link: https://forms.office.com/e/tK1khvV3Y2
Requests made in any other way will not be considered.
Completed forms without supporting evidence provided to the given email address (england.mdrs.nationalrecruitment@nhs.net) will not be considered.
You only need to submit the form once.
The deadline to submit a review request isFriday 24 July 2026 at 13:00hrs (UK time).*** ***Requests received after the deadline will not be considered.
Following your submission, your request will be reviewed. If evidence submitted shows that you are now eligible to be in the priority group, your status will be amended.
You will be informed of the review decision by no later than Monday 3 August 2026.
Please note: If you become eligible for a status change after the submission deadline, this will not be considered for 2026 recruitment.
Thank you for your continued engagement with the 2026 recruitment process.
Kind regards,
Medical Recruitment and Selection Team
Good afternoon,
BAPIO has written to the Secretary of State for Health & Social Care to formally raise its concerns regarding BMA Motion 59 and the implementation of the Medical Training (Prioritisation) Act. A copy of BAPIO’s letter is available on our website:
https://bapio.org/bapio-says-five-year-img-threshold-is-discriminatory-and-may-trigger-legal-action/
Given the importance of this issue and the potential impact on doctors, BAPIO also encourages all to write to their local MPs to highlight their concerns and seek their support.
To support in doing this, BAPIO has prepared a template letter, which is attached. You are encouraged to personalise the letter by updating the relevant sections to reflect your own circumstances before sending it to your MP. Please also share this template letter widely amongst your contacts.
Details of your local MP, including their contact information, can be found here:
https://members.parliament.uk/FindYourMP
We strongly encourage all members to take this opportunity to make their voices heard and raise awareness of the concerns surrounding these changes.
Thank you for your continued support.
Thank You
Best Regards,
BAPIO Office

To all IMGs please don’t participate in upcoming IA. Don’t forget the BMA betrayal. I know it’s tempting with summers and all but be united and undermine the strikes.
