This spike buck was found pretty well picked over by scavengers.
I’d like to keep the skull but don’t know if it was hit by an auto and broken, though one orbit looks gnawed out. At minimum I’d like to cut out the spike antler skull cap.

The hooves are another story. Any advice here would be hugely appreciated. Can I pull the tendons out of the foot “soles” and preserve it with fomaldehyde injection and packing in borax, or is it likely too far gone and prone to fur slippage?

I currently have a gen2 2004 with 94,000 miles. I bought it from the original owner at about 80,000. I’ve replaced the core of the hybrid battery and done some other fairly minor repairs to it. Despite its appliance-like driving experience, I like it very well and consistently get 45 mpg.

I have the opportunity to buy a 2015 plug in hybrid (Li battery) with 83,000 for $11K that belonged to a friend’s mother who recently passed.

Would it be advisable to buy the newer car with different battery technology? I know there are EGR issues and head gasket issues w/ 3rd gen but were they sorted by 2015 the end of the generation? Does gen3 have the legendary longevity of gen2?

Edit: I would sell the gen2 if purchasing the gen3. Living in a very high demand market, I’d likely get $8K for the gen2 and spend $3K for the swap.

Any opinions welcome.

I saw this today and thought maybe a kit car, but have no idea. Incidentally, I also saw a yellow Pantera today, but knew better than to post, lest the counter be reset.

After suggestions and encouragement on this sub, I decided to proceed with preservation as a wet specimen. I rounded up some 37% formaldehyde, denatured EtOH and syringes. ~10cc of formaldehyde injected throughout the body cavity and brain case. Now in the first charge of alcohol. Thanks, community, for the suggestion.

I found this incredible little mole dead this morning. Its velvet fur is incredible. Looking for input on what to do with it. I’ll macerate the skull at minimum, but hoping for other preservation ideas. Thank you.
