Bernina 480 purchased used - what’s this grey part sticking out on the machine?

Bernina 480 purchased used - what’s this grey part sticking out on the machine?

Hi all, I bought a used Bernina off of facebook marketplace. This is my very first Bernina so I’m not super familiar with all of the parts (I have a Janome and singer). I noticed that there’s this grey thing that’s sticking out and didn’t think much of it until I realized that it’s not in stock pictures of the Bernina and also not in the manual.

Do yall happen to know what this part is? She’s currently in the shop being serviced so I’m sure I can ask, it just won’t be ready for a couple of weeks and it’s bothering me that I can’t figure out what it is.

When turning my project right side out the interfacing wrinkled. What am I doing wrong?

Tbh I’m a little bummed because this is the best topstitching I have ever done, and the interfacing seems to have wrinkled giving it that crinkled look. It’s definitely more on the main body than the two other pockets.

I’m thinking it’s probably the weight of the interfacing I’m using, but I’m still pretty new so I’m not entirely sure. I’m using 100% cotton fabric that I got at a quilt shop and the pattern called for non-woven interfacing. The non-woven interfacing I have says “fusible craft interfacing”… so I’m guessing it’s the wrong type for my projects? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you!
