Is it worth undervolting my Ryzen 7 5800X3D if temperatures are already okay?

Hi everyone,

I recently upgraded to a Ryzen 7 5800X3D and I'm wondering if it's worth undervolting.

My current setup:

  • Ryzen 7 5800X3D
  • Gigabyte B550M AORUS Elite
  • DeepCool AK620 Digital SE
  • RTX 2070 Super
  • G.Skill Trident Z RGB 16GB (2×8GB) DDR4-3200

Current temperatures:

  • Around 70–76°C while gaming with the air conditioning on.
  • Around 83–85°C while gaming when my room is about 31–33°C (no air conditioning).

The CPU is completely stable, and I haven't noticed any thermal throttling.

Others say to leave everything stock if there aren't any issues.

Should I upgrade from a Ryzen 9 3900X to a Ryzen 7 5800X3D?

Hi everyone,

I’m currently running a Ryzen 9 3900X paired with an RTX 2070 Super and I mainly play at 1080p. Most of the games I play are CPU-heavy esports titles like Valorant, and I noticed some benchmarks showing the 5800X3D getting significantly higher FPS compared to the 3900X.

I don’t do much productivity work anymore, so gaming performance is my priority. I usually target high refresh rates (240Hz+) and would like to maximize FPS without moving to AM5 yet.

My questions are:
Is the jump from a 3900X to a 5800X3D worth it for gaming?

How much of an improvement should I realistically expect with an RTX 2070 Super at 1080p?

Has anyone here made the same upgrade? Was it noticeable in games like Valorant, CS2, Warzone, etc.?

Would you recommend going for the 5800X3D now, or saving up and eventually moving to AM5?
