Building a smoking cessation app | no promotion, just asking questions

I’m building an app to help smokers quit, and I’d really appreciate some honest feedback from people who have gone through it or are trying to.

The idea is to combine gamification, stats, quit plans, and a community to make quitting more engaging and less lonely. It’s still early stage, and I’m mainly trying to understand what actually helps vs what sounds good on paper.

If you’ve ever tried to quit smoking:

- What helped you the most?

- What did you feel was missing from other apps or methods?

- Would features like progress stats, challenges, or community support actually motivate you?

What was the moment that made quitting smoking feel for you?

For people who tried quitting smoking or successfully quit:

Was there a specific moment that pushed you seriously toward stopping?

Health scare, money, family, feeling tired of addiction, something else?

what actually triggers the decision psychologically.

I’m building an app to help addicted smokers quit | would love your honest thoughts

I’m building a mobile app to help addicted smokers quit with a simple, structured system (no complicated stuff).

Before I go further, I want honest feedback from real people who struggle with smoking and what they want from an app like this.

What’s the hardest part about quitting for you, and would you actually use an app for it?

Thanks :)

I never realized how much money I was burning on smoking until I quit and did the math

One thing nobody talks about enough is how invisible the spending becomes when you smoke every day.

When I was smoking, buying cigarettes felt “normal.” A pack here, another one there, maybe a vape or lighter too. I never really thought about the total because it was part of my routine.

After quitting, I finally sat down and calculated how much money I had spent over time and it honestly shocked me.

It wasn’t just small daily purchases anymore. It was hundreds, then thousands gone into something that was damaging my health and controlling my habits at the same time.

What’s crazy is that while smoking, I would hesitate to spend money on useful things for myself, but nicotine always got paid first without question.

Quitting is hard, but seeing how much money stays in my pocket now is one of the most motivating parts.

Did anyone else get shocked when they finally calculated the real cost of smoking?

How did you get your first users organically as a solo founder?

I’m a solo developer currently building a mobile app and planning to launch in about 3 weeks. I decided to start with Android first, then move to iOS later since my budget is limited.

I’m curious how other solopreneurs got their first organic users without spending much money on ads.

Did you use Reddit, TikTok, SEO, communities, content marketing, referrals, Product Hunt, or something else?

Would love to hear what actually worked for you in the early stage.
