Recent olive young skin analysis experience sharing

I was in Seoul again in June after visiting last year and managed to get do-overs of many of my favourites from the last trip and try lots of new things. I think Seoul is fast turning into one of my favourite cities and I can't wait to go back.

I got a skin analysis at olive young last year which was great and helped me so much in selecting products so this time I went back to get it done again and get recommendations for new products to try but this time was different and I wanted to share my experience since I know many of us go there and spend almost a full day.

I believe olive young now has the personalized son analyses at Seongsu as well as in Gangnam and Myeongdong so just pick the one closest to you.

I went to Seongsu (it was closest). Was there 30-35 minutes before they opened and was number 24 in line. When we finally got queue numbers I got 18, since some of the queue went off to the colour analysis.

Some differences from last year:

\- the consultant I worked with did not speak English so we used a translation app that was on the iPads at the station. It worked okay, but not great.

\- not sure if they were running behind or have just changed their processes but she skipped putting in any settings in the software before she did the skin analysis. I'm not white and not young and last time the consultant clicked in my ethnicity and age and this time she just skipped all the questions. I think this makes a difference to the final results, especially where they show how your scores compare to the average.

\- I walked her through my current routine and while I was doing that she was very positive and said, that's good, that's really good etc. Then I asked her for product recommendations for specific ingredients and the list she finally gave me had... None of them. So for example I told her I use vitamin C serum in the morning before sunscreen and she said, that's very good, and I said, I'd love a recommendation for a Korean vitamin C serum or product and her final list didn't have one. Same with retinol.

\- her final list of recommendations were very strange compared to both what we'd discussed through the consult and also what I'd asked for recommendations for. It was also very very long and felt very much like maybe they had been given a list of products to recommend so she just threw them in there.

\- I think they've changed the discount code that they give you after the consultation so that it has a max limit that's actually quite low, so I didn't think it was particularly valuable anymore.

Of course it's only a list of recommendations and no one is forcing you to do anything so I just picked and chose what I bought but considering we got there pretty early, and were only done with everything by 4.30, I'm not sure I would have spent all that time if I'd known how poor the recommendations would be.

Some food for thought for anyone planning to get the skin analysis at olive young!

Not being able to post specific content

Hi all,

I wanted to share two recent experiences but the moment I add the relevant flair the post button greys out. I've contacted the mods and haven't heard back. I have gotten really good information from this sub so wanted to give back to the community. Any suggestions on what I'm doing wrong? I can't even write the word for this question without the post button getting greyed out haha

Is it possible to get both an eSIM and a china sim to avoid VPN issues?

I'm going to be in China in a few weeks and have been looking into VPNs but it's really hard to understand what works right now relative to what worked a few months ago but no longer (and from the responses, which are being made by bots).

I need to stay in touch with family and this is usually through WhatsApp and Facebook so I'm going to need some way to do that but at the same time I want to get a phone number in china because I want to order things delivered without getting hotel staff involved.

Do you think getting a trip eSIM so i can avoid using a vpn and also get a Chinese sim for the phone number would work? Any potential problems you can think of or anyone else that has done this?

Can't apply for EU261 after 2 months?

SAS has declined an EU261 claim saying that we needed to have applied within 2 months after the flight. Is this valid?

We're in Sweden and a friend of mine that was flying to SFO had their fight cancelled and they were rebooked to a flight the next day and also downgraded at the gate to economy.

They applied for and received compensation for the downgrade and for expenses but didn't realise that they needed to apply separately for the EU261 compensation. They applied for it last week and SAS got back to them this week denying the claim saying they should have applied within two months of the flight.

Anyone have experience of this rule? It's totally new to me!

▲ 2 r/Shoes

Merrell doesn't seem to make these anymore... substitute suggestions?

These are seriously some of the most comfortable shoes I possess and they work perfectly for work and when I'm traveling for work. I can walk miles in them and they look so very good with the little heel. I bought these back in 2018 or 19 and I'm terrified they're going to break one of these days and I'm SOL. My feet aren't very wide but maybe a shade over normal and I also wear a size 11 (EU 42/43).

Any recommendations? I've been buying Joseph Siebel but they just aren't as comfortable for walking as these are.

We're a family of four traveling to China in a few months and I've started looking at hotels but it looks like, despite putting in how old the kids are, I get recommended hotel rooms with only one bed (queen or king) and it doesn't look like there are additional sofa beds in the room or even space for additional cots to be added when I look at pictures. My kids are not babies and they usually sleep in their own beds when we travel so I'm wondering if we need to book two rooms? Does trip.com assume that the kids will sleep in the bed with the parents? My kids are around 10 years old, no way we're all sleeping comfortably together even if it's a king sized bed haha

I've seen the filter where you can specify how many beds you're looking for but that really limits the number and location of the hotels. Happy to pay for two rooms if that's what we need to do but wanted to ask on here in case I'm missing something obvious. If we do book two rooms, is there a way to check or ask for rooms that are interconnected?

We're going to Beijing, Xian and a few other cities if anyone has tips for hotels!
