SAS Business Upgrade Bidding

Seeking advice to give myself a better chance to win the bid. The flight is ORD to Copenhagen in November 2026. Is it better to wait until closer to flight date to bid or should I bid now? Minimum is $900 USD. Any advice?

Trip Report - SAS - LAX-CPH - Business upgrade x2

Just returned from 2 weeks in Europe - visiting Copenhagen, Prague and Berlin.

SAS flight LAX-CPH was very packed - all classes.

Won bidding from Economy light to Business light as highest bidder. Lounge access at Air France was amazing - best food for a lounge I have ever seen - even better than the Centurion lounge. They even make hot dishes in front of you.

SAS flight staff were professional but nothing above & beyond.

On return CPH-LAX, same upgrade won as high bidder #2. Lounge access at SAS Lounge before passport control was in a difficult location because I did not know how long the wait would be in lines. Spent 30 minutes to have a quick lunch. Quality of the SAS lounge was mediocre - almost all vegetarian items but the Carlsberg beer on tap was very good.

SAS flight staff were amazing - very happy, went way above and beyond.

Flight was full and all classes were fully packed.

Overall, SAS did a great job - they are very punctual and strives to be on time.

I'd fly with them again and even gain miles with SAS Eurobonus (my flight miles went into Delta which is my preferred carrier).

How to purchase infant seat?

Hi all,

Planning a trip with SAS in a few months. My partner & I will be traveling with our then 14 month old baby, and we want to purchase a seat for him.

However, the website doesn't allow me to do so; selecting "infant" puts him on my lap, and selecting "child" doesn't allow me to input his birthdate.

I understand that there is a fee for booking via phone. Will this be waived, since it is literally impossible to book this online? Is there a workaround?

Thanks!

Booked confirmed ticket, now standby?

I booked a confirmed business ticket, went to check in and says no seats available and shows me as standby.

Flying from ATL.

What are my options? There is only one flight a day…

What’s the point of paying for business flex if they decide to put you on standby?

Can't apply for EU261 after 2 months?

SAS has declined an EU261 claim saying that we needed to have applied within 2 months after the flight. Is this valid?

We're in Sweden and a friend of mine that was flying to SFO had their fight cancelled and they were rebooked to a flight the next day and also downgraded at the gate to economy.

They applied for and received compensation for the downgrade and for expenses but didn't realise that they needed to apply separately for the EU261 compensation. They applied for it last week and SAS got back to them this week denying the claim saying they should have applied within two months of the flight.

Anyone have experience of this rule? It's totally new to me!

How strict are they with personal item size?

my backpack is larger than the dimensions and I’m traveling youth lite. I’m also Skyteam elite plus so zone one and a checked piece of luggage. i have just 55 mins in cph so I don’t want to risk checking it but also don’t want to risk getting pulled at the gate. Do they check for zone one? my travel companions are zone 5 and if possible I want to board with them

getting anxious about my layover

I’m flying SAS for the first time next month, JFK - CPH - SPU. It’s an hour & 20 layover, but I’m worried about the passport control line/the flight being delayed. Is this usually a good amount of time to make this connection?

The CPH-BOM fiasco

Hi

Well at this point everyone know about the embarrassing ordeal of the SAS CPH-BOM route but for the people who already had their flights on the route cancelled, did the airline rebook you to other flights?

My flight got cancelled but the alternative flight was the same flight??

Wondering if someone could help with some clarification regarding this. My original flight has been distrusted but the original flight is the alternative flight. Not sure if I’m missing something.

Can I change my bike to a regular checked bag after purchase?

Hi, I'm flying with SAS next week. I bought a young standard ticket and chose a bicycle as my checked baggage. However, plans have changed, and I now can no longer take the bike. Is it possible to now change my checked bag type to a regular bag? When I try to modify my booking, it only seems to let me add another bag on top of the bike, not replace it.

SK969 Inaugural Diverted to CPH

Not only did this flight depart 4 hours late, it’s now diverting back to CPH? Reading through ACARS a 310L oxygen tank was used, seat 43F needs cushion replacement, but that’s all I got.

Anyone onboard this flight?

Any way to cancel my "special" meal selection?

I opted out of having a meal in a upcoming SAS flight, because I thought I would have time to eat in the lounge, but things changed and I will have to dine onboard. The problem is that I cannot "opt out" of my "meal selection" (no meal). I can only change from "no meal" to other special options like "vegan" and "gluten free". I want a normal meal, but the app doesn't give me this option

Seat Upgrade bid - is 2nd highest bid still a good shot?

First time flying SAS. Booked a solo ticket.

Bidding for 1 business class seat for transatlantic flight from Canada to Europe. Now that live bidding is up, I see my "current ranking" is 2, with the highest bid being almost double my bid per person (doesn't say how many seats were bid on at that price).

Flight isn't full from looking at the seat map, with 4 remaining premium and business class seats.

I've not done bidding on SAS before. Is it basically a flip of the coin whether I get a seat or would folks try to top the bid earlier before the flight? Thanks

EDIT: Got a seat with the second best bid. Did not try to even get close to the best bid (1300 euros)

Denied boarding on SAS flight SK950 because of “possible emergency landing in the U.S.". Is this normal or was I wrongfully denied?

On June 2nd, I had a really frustrating and honestly confusing experience with SAS (flight SK950), and I’m trying to understand whether this was legitimate or if I was unfairly denied boarding.

I was booked on SAS flight SK950 from Toronto to Copenhagen, departing at 5:10 PM and arriving in Copenhagen at 7:05 AM local time. I then had a 1-hour layover in Copenhagen before continuing on to Oslo.

At check-in / boarding, I was denied boarding.

The explanation I was given was:

This didn’t make sense to me at the time, and still doesn’t.

My destination was Denmark (and onward to Norway), not the United States. I had all valid documents required for my trip: an Iranian passport, a valid Canadian work permit/visa, and a valid Schengen visa.

What makes this even more confusing is that the refusal was not based on my actual destination, transit, or any clearly stated immigration requirement. It was based entirely on a hypothetical emergency landing scenario in a country that was not part of my itinerary.

From what I understand, airline boarding rules are normally based on actual entry requirements for the destination and any planned transit countries, not speculative “what if the aircraft diverts somewhere else” situations.

For reference, international aviation standards and industry practice generally work as follows:

  • Airlines use IATA Timatic to verify whether passengers can enter their destination or transit countries, not hypothetical diversion locations.
  • Airline Conditions of Carriage typically allow refusal of boarding if a passenger is likely inadmissible, but this is normally tied to actual itinerary requirements, not hypothetical events.

So the part I’m struggling with is this:

I was not refused due to my actual destination (Denmark) or any documented transit requirement, but instead due to a hypothetical emergency landing in the U.S., which is not part of my itinerary at all.

This raises a few questions for me:

  • Is there any real airline regulation that supports denying boarding based solely on a possible emergency diversion scenario?
  • Can “inadmissibility in a country I am not traveling to” legally justify a boarding refusal?
  • Or was this a misinterpretation of airline risk rules, Timatic data, or staff policy?

I’ve never experienced anything like this before, and the explanation I was given felt arbitrary and inconsistent with standard airline practice.

Would really appreciate insight from anyone familiar with airline operations, aviation law, or similar situations.

FINAL UPDATE

After talking to the airport staff, we have finally figured out why I wasn’t allowed to board. After checking in my luggage. I was given a ticket with a single S for security. After getting to the gate, my ticket was updated to a 4S for additional screening. However, the person who was supposed to do the additional screening wasn’t even there. So I was told to wait which is around the same time when they told me that I couldn’t board because of a possible emergency landing in the US. However, their second claim was incorrect. And turns out the main reason I wasn’t allowed to board was because they couldn’t complete their additional screening in time for the flight (since the person physically wasn’t there). They said the reason my luggage was required for additional screening was “random” and “required by the US airspace”. I ended up getting a written cause and I will be given a full refund + a claim of at least 500$CAD.

Lost item - ended up back in Asia

I took a flight with SAS from HND to CPH yesterday and realised I lost my small bag with all IDs and cards after I got on my connecting flight. (Un)luckily my AirPods were inside the bag so I got tracking on them. I could see they were inside the aircraft all evening in CPH and hoped to get them delivered to lost and found. To my big surprise, I woke up seeing them in SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA! They are still appearing at the airport and strongly disbelieve it to be stolen. Clearly, the aircraft has not been cleaned properly.

Been a thrown back and forth between Danish police, Korean police, both countries lost and found services and SAS customer service. SAS is telling me it is the airport responsibility while the airport/police says it is the airline. This aircraft is according to SAS flying from Seoul to Tokyo tonight and now telling me I need to contact lost and found in Japan. Well, on their site it says contact the airline.

Curious to see where my AirPods are tomorrow morning.

Any similar experience and suggestion for what to do in this case??

CPH exit EU thru EES & lounge question

https://preview.redd.it/l5a0icwz5t4h1.jpg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ebace2b637abb6cf6c314b8aef71f93c5e6d20dc

What is the current status on passport control at CPH ?
I am flying SAS from Schengen country into CPH and then flying out of CPH 3 hours laters.

Will I have enough time to transition domestic to international thru passport control?

Any time for lounge access (Business) to look forward to?

Is SAS Fastback going to help me transition ?

I ask because last week CPH entry was a mess - long lines for passport control - 75 minutes.

EES kiosks were all off limits - some were red inoperative, others just dead.

SAS Business Upgrade

I know there are a lot of requests for advice about this. Here’s another:

Our family of 3 is traveling to CPH in economy. There are currently 14 business class seats showing open, though I understand more may actually be occupied.

Minimum bid is $950. I bid $850 early. I have a pre-reserved meal (lacto ovo vegetarian).

Based on your experience:

  1. Should I upgrade my bid? How much?
  2. Should I cancel my special meal request?

I appreciate any advice experienced SAS Redditors can provide.

SK937/938 Cancellations

Since restarting this seasonal flight between CPH-SEA, the round trip flights have been cancelled twice (out of 8 scheduled). Is this potentially due to tech ops with such a small A359 fleet or could it be because of what appears to be low loads, especially on the outbound (SK937) flight?
