I like experimenting with different types of terrain in my dioramas, and for this one I wanted to try my hand at a completely studless snowy landscape. I think there are opportunities to smooth out the topography a bit, but for a first attempt I'm pretty happy with it.
First Star Wars MOC!
I've long been a fan of the remnant stormtroopers designed by Lucasfilm concept artist Brian Matyas and wish we could get an on-screen depiction that really captures that vibe.
Based on those concepts, I kitbashed a few of my own and built out a small scene of a squad of battered Imperial holdouts patrolling a desolate steppe.
The probe droid is sourced from set 75322; just color-swapped a few parts and made a couple of changes to simplify the design. The speeder bike is based on a Rebrickable MOC by u/Codyaner-Bricks, but with quite a few exterior modifications.
I've shared a couple early concepts of this group before, but I think I'm finally satisfied with my Blacktron assault force.
My version of Blacktron is more of an amoral PMC than an outright criminal syndicate, so I leaned into military sci-fi vibes and wanted to depict them as seasoned professional soldiers. Tried to stay true to the general aesthetic of classic Blacktron and really tried to stretch my legs with minifig-scale brick-built weapons here; the light machine gun/SAW is probably my favorite.
