Small Roadtrip West/Northwest Michigan. Any recommendations

Hey Michigan anglers, this week I’ve got some vacation time set aside starting Thursday through the weekend where I’m taking my girlfriend on a roadtrip around Michigan.

We’re going to bring the kayaks, and try to find new lakes/rivers to fish in during the trip! I’m going to upload a picture of the “general route”. Do you all have any recommendations for lakes/rivers to fish along the western part of the state?

Bonus points if there are any spots with Pike as I’m dying to catch my first one!

Thanks in advance!

First time kayak fishing!!

I posted here a few months ago and everyone was so kind.

Recently got out of my busy season at work and my promise to myself was that I’d get a kayak to start fishing the lake!

First time taking it out and caught my first walleye and a nice white bass! Also enjoying some epic sunsets… whew 🌅

Hi all,

I've made one other post here with my pb white bass from two weeks ago. I would absolutely consider myself a beginner. However I live on a pretty nice sized lake and I am going to purchase a kayak so I can fish on it.

My first rod and reel combo was from Shakespeare spinning reel from Meijer (LOL but it's served me well so far!) I truly don't think this rod/reel will hold up for targeting larger, more aggressive fish (bass, pike, salmon potentially)

Could anyone recommend me a spinning rod/reel combo that is manageable from a kayak that will future proof me?

Budget range ($150-250)

Thanks y'all!
