CSP Portal: "Proof of funds to finance fees" while waiting on a university waiver scholarship

I am currently applying for my German student visa through the Consular Services Portal (CSP). I’ve hit a roadblock in the digital document pre-check section.

The portal is explicitly asking for “Proof of funds to finance fees” (additional tuition or language course fees).

Here is my situation:

I have applied for a need-based scholarship from the university, but I am still waiting to hear back. Because of this, I haven't paid the tuition fees yet. I genuinely do not have personal funds or an active educational loan to show for this specific requirement right now, as I was counting on the scholarship decision first. If I borrow short-term money from relatives just to get my bank statement for the CSP portal check right now, can I apply for a proper education loan later to cover the rest of my semester fees?

Since the CSP digital pre-check is very strict, I’m terrified that leaving this blank, uploading a blank page, or uploading a "pending scholarship application" screenshot will cause the visa officer to reject my documents or delete my application. Has anyone been in this exact loop before? What did you upload to bypass the portal pre-check while waiting on financial aid?

Any advice or experiences would be massively appreciated. Thank you!

Got admits from Goethe (Frankfurt) and TUM (Munich). Can I apply for a visa with Goethe now and switch to TUM later?

Hey everyone,

I’m facing a tight timeline for winter semester enrollment and need some advice on the German student visa process.

I have received admission offers for two programs:

  1. Goethe University Frankfurt – MS in Molecular Biosciences
  2. TUM (Munich) – MS in Biomedical Engineering and Medical Physics

I have applied for a scholarship at TUM and am waiting for the results. I likely won't hear back until late July. However, if I wait until late July to start my visa application, I will definitely miss the October semester start because of visa processing times in New Delhi, India.

To avoid delays, I want to apply for my student visa right now using my Goethe admission letter.

My Questions:

  1. If my visa is granted based on Goethe University, can I legally change my mind upon arrival (or right before) and enroll at TUM instead?
  2. Has anyone done this recently? Are there any hidden traps with health insurance, blocked accounts, or city registration (Anmeldung) that I should watch out for?

Is Updating the APS necessary?

Hey everyone, looking for some urgent advice or similar experiences regarding an APS update.
My Situation:
2025: Applied for and received my APS certificate as an ongoing student (verified up to my 6th semester of B.Tech Biotechnology). I ended up delaying my plans and didn't go to Germany last year.
2026 (Now): I have fully graduated, completed all 8 semesters, and hold my consolidated transcripts and provisional degree.
Admission: I just received an official offer letter for a Master's program starting this October!

Do I need to make a completely new registration profile on the APS portal. Also, i remember submitting my APS during my applications. It didn’t flag any issue. My documents were “valid”. I just want to know if this will create any issue during visa.

Any insight would be a lifesaver. Thanks in advance!

Has anyone switched universities after applying for a German student visa via the CSP portal?

Hi everyone,
I’m applying for a German student visa through the CSP portal (New Delhi).
I currently have one admission offer, but it isn’t my first choice. I’m still waiting to hear back from a few other universities, and I probably won’t receive their decisions until mid or late July. However, my classes start in October, so I don’t want to delay the visa process.
I have two questions:
Can I apply for my student visa using my current admission letter and then switch to another university if I receive a better offer before my visa is issued or before I travel to Germany?
Can I transfer the required blocked account funds to my Expatrio account based on my current admission letter, and if I later decide to attend a different university, will that create any issues?
I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has been in a similar situation or knows how this works. Thanks!

Interview

I have two upcoming interviews (A and B) with different requirements and different Zoom links. The organizers said the order is 'flexible.' Does this mean I can just show up to the Link B meeting on the earlier date, or is it common practice to email them to 'lock in' the dates? Has anyone dealt with this before?"

International Office application

I had already submitted my application to the LMU International Office along with the general application well before the entrance exam was conducted.

Is that completely fine, or do I need to contact the university again/update anything after being invited to the interview stage?

Molecular and Cellular Biology

Hi, I wanted to ask about this year’s MCB admissions at LMU.

Did any non-EU applicants receive direct admission after the entrance exam stage, without an interview? Or is the interview mandatory for all selected non-EU applicants?

Would really appreciate if anyone who went through the process this year could share their experience.
