TMP interviews

How rigorous are the interviews? Do almost all the applicants have to give an interview? Has someone already gotten a rejection? How likely is it for someone to get in without an interview?

I am sorry there is not much information about this programme online; it's just the website and what little there is on reddit. So if there is someone who is currently studying, please answer my questions

Edit: I did not get an interview already, that's not what I was trying to imply.

Anyone else starting LMU MMT this winter?

Hey guys! I'm an international student and was just admitted to LMU's Management & Digital Technologies (MMT) master's for WS 2026/27. Just wanted to see if anyone else here is starting the program too and perhaps looking for accommodation. Would be nice to get to know a few people before classes start.

M.Sc. Statistics and Data Science interview

Hi everyone, has anyone done the admission interview for the Statistics and Data Science masters? I would really appreciate if you could share tips/resources for the preparation or if you could share your experience and some questions you can remember.

For those who are currently preparing, which resources are you using?

MSC Molecular Biology Course

Hi everyone :) I'm an italian student and I've been admitted to this year's Winter Semester for the MCB master program at LMU. On a bunch of reviews I've seen that it is difficult to get the modules and the courses you want because there are a lot of students and this (sometimes) leads to people taking courses they don't like just to graduate earlier.
Can someone confirm if whether this is true? In general I would be super happy if someone can explain to me how this process actually work.
Also, I'm loking forward to meet people in this Master program, so anyone who wants to connect lets chat :))

LMU MSc Statistics and Data Science Interview after Home-exam

I wanted to know if there are people who got interview invitations? They said that aptitude test results will be published by the end of June and the interviews are in late June and July.
Any news? Please update.

New Student Accommodation Advice 😊

Hi all,

I have been accepted to start the EES masters programme at LMU come October.

As an international student, I am finding the whole accommodation situation confusing and was wondering if anyone had any advice on finding somewhere to live.

Equally if anyone is moving out of an apartment, I would be interested in taking over rent should the property be right for me!

Thank you!

Freundschaften an der LMU finden + Empfehlungen für Clubs/Vereine?

Hey zusammen,

Danke euch!

Can someone help explain this bioinformatics "REVERSE COMPLEMENT" strand concept?, cause it just got me confused

Let us completely unpack Question 3 so that this never trips you up again. This is the single most common trick format on German university entrance exams for bioinformatics, because it tests your attention to directionality.

Here is the question from the practice set:

If a double-stranded DNA sequence is written as 5'-GGAA-3', what is the correct sequence of its complementary antiparallel partner DNA strand written in the standard 5' to 3' direction?

Step 1: The Golden Rule of DNA (Antiparallel)

DNA strands are like a two-lane road where cars drive in opposite directions. They are antiparallel.

  • If the top strand runs from left to right as 5' to 3',
  • The bottom strand must run from left to right as 3' to 5'.

Let us line them up and apply standard base-pairing (G pairs with C, A pairs with T):

Top Strand (Given):      5' ──  G  ──  G  ──  A  ──  A  ── 3'
│     │     │     │
Bottom Strand (Match):   3' ──  C  ──  C  ──  T  ──  T  ── 5'

If you look at the bottom strand from left to right, it reads: 3'-CCTT-5'.

Step 2: The Exam Standard (The Flip)

In biology and informatics databases, sequences are always written starting from the 5' end on the left. If a question does not specify an orientation, you must assume the answers are written in the standard 5'-to-3' direction.

Look at our matching bottom strand again: 3'-CCTT-5'.

To write it starting with the 5' end on the left, we simply read it backward from right to left:

Read from right to left:   5' ──  T  ──  T  ──  C  ──  C  ── 3'

Therefore, 3'-CCTT-5' is exactly the same molecule as 5'-AAGG-3' when flipped around to look standard.

The 3-Second Exam Shortcut

Instead of drawing it out every time on your scratch paper, you can find the answer in two steps:

  1. Find the complement: Swap the letters (GGAA becomes CCTT).
  2. Reverse the result: Read it completely backward (CCTT backwards becomes AAGG).

This instantly gives you Option A) 5'-AAGG-3'.

Does seeing the physical alignment of the two strands clear up how the directionality flips? Let me know if you would like to run one more rapid sequence matching question to test this shortcut!

Confused about LMU Munich Bachelor’s application: Sworn translations vs. Notarization requirements?

Hey everyone,I am a foreigner currently in munich, planning to apply for a Bachelor’s program at LMU Munich. I am trying to get all my application documents in order, but the official verification and notarization guidelines on the website have me completely spiraling. Can someone who has gone through this help me understand the exact steps? Here is what the LMU website generally states for the requirements:School leaving certificates / academic transcripts.Proof of language proficiency (German/English depending on the course).Officially certified copies of everything (if not in German/English, they need official translations). The Translator Story:I already took my documents to a sworn translator. What I received back is a bundle where each translated paper is physically attached to a stamped photocopy of my original document. Both the photocopy and the translation are stamped with the official sworn translator’s stamp. My Notary Confusion:The LMU website says copies must be officially notarized (beglaubigt). I need help understanding exactly what the notary does next and what I need to bring to them:Do I bring only my original documents, and the notary just makes and notarizes copies of those originals?Or do I bring my originals AND the translation bundle I got from the sworn translator, and the notary has to notarize both sets? What is the correct, required way LMU expects this?If the notary does need to notarize the translated bundle as well, what do I actually physically mail to LMU? Do I send the translations stamped by the translator, the ones stamped by the notary, or both? The wording on the website is a bit of a loop for me, and I don't want my application rejected over a technicality. Any clarity from past applicants or current LMU students would be life-saving. Thanks in advance!

Do I have a shot at LMU?

Hi everyone! I am a 14 year old from Australia who is wondering what are the prerequisites for applying/attending LMU in an area around biology & chemistry. I am aware I am fairly young to be worrying about unis, but I feel like I need to start now since learning a language takes a fair bit of time. (Also I am very new to reddit and I have no idea if this is even something I would post to this thread channel thing so sorry if this is a bit random lol)

The key things I want to know are -

- What do you need to have to apply? E.g. a curtain score on your end of high school tests? A curtain level of German proficiency? Etc

- How hard is it to get in? Is there an acceptance rate or set number of spots? Or is it just like a meet the requirements and you can enroll type thing?

-once you make it in, how hard is it to stay? I’m aware it is an academically challenging school but how hard is it to keep up?

- do I need to do any specific subjects in year 12?(my final year of high school)

Any insight would be much appreciated!! I am purely just trying to wrap my head around how public unis work. Thanks!

I am also happy to answer any questions, I am aware my writing lacks clarity lol

Application form (IO) listing passed/failed courses

Hi all,

I'm applying for master's degree and in the application form required to submit to IO, there is a section about prior university degrees. The thing is, it also says that I need to list passed/failed examinations + grades, but I physically can't list all my transcript because the space is so small. Do I really need to do it? I am sending my transcript to them anyway already.

Thank you!!

International office - certified copy of TOEFL certificate

Hi all,

Since IO requires certified copies of everything, how did you certify TOEFL certificate? ETS only allows me to download pdf version of my certificate, and I'm afraid I won't be able to notarize it...

Also, on the website there are listed a few required documents (for Master's degree) that I have to send. However, in the application form they also say that I have to send certified copies of internship certificates etc. Are those also necessary or should I trust the website only?

Thank you very much!!
