Choosing between ACCA & ICAEW

Hi I am about to start my MSc in accounting soon and my masters will give me some paper exemptions in both. Unfortunately I have no prior accounting work experience and would be starting off from scratch (which I am ready to do). I have BA in economics and sales experience of two years.

How do I go about choosing which accreditation is suitable? I obviously am doing the research and googling everything but i wanted to hear from you who had the option for both and ended up choosing one.

for more context : I will be on a graduate visa seeking skilled worker visa, but I don’t want to make a life long career decision based on VISA circumstances, unless it will have a big impact on the visa outcome

Bachelors in quant economics looking to do masters in accounting

Hello, fishing for career advice here. I have a bachelors in economics, planning to study accounting for masters in uk. Is it a good idea and will I get opportunity to intern and then full time? I have two years experience post graduation in USA companies and am wonder if this non accounting resume would be at all worth it. I am willing to put the work in, get the necessary certifications but honestly scared my bachelors might be an issue. I took one accounting course because my college only offered pure theory subjects and accounting was not a major. I didn’t even bother to think about my career long term at that time honestly but i was hoping my masters could bring a change.

Before I decide spend £20k on a degree I wanted to know if I would actually be able to make it. Any advice would be helpful.

Aug 15 deadlines from unis

Hello, I know I am really late for winter semester but I still wanted to see if I can crowdsource any information from anyone.

I wanted to do my masters in econ field (I have bachelors in quant economics) in Germany. I am not looking to stay long term only looking to study two years. Are there any universities still accepting applicants with any Aug 15/30 deadlines for their masters program?

AMA Ahmadi Muslim

Hello everyone and Salam. I think there is a lot of misconceptions about Ahmadi Muslims across sects and religions so I wanted to hold this space. Biggest misconception is that we don’t accept Prophet SM as last law bearing prophet, we do! Can’t be Muslim without believing in the greatest of all prophet.

Please ask me anything about Ahmadi culture, life & practices. I am an Ahmadi by birth, currently in mid twenties, 3rd generation from moms side, 4th generation from dads side. Parents, uncles, aunts, sister in laws, brother in laws serve on national committees that run our community organization. I have lived away from hometown and been involved in jamaat across borders as a result (so I can speak to both east & west based communities). In my late teens I questioned the validity of this jamaat and wanted to research everything myself, so despite my heavy family involvement I found my own theory and belief system.

Please keep it respectful and bring genuine curiosity, no hate speech please 🙏🏻

Masters Economics fall 27 intake - advice needed

Long post alert, and I will be so grateful for my advice. My plan is to do a PhD and go into an academic track. However, this is a decision I have taken now, post graduation. I had a whole different look on what I wanted to do before.

I was an international student in US, did my Bachelors at a liberal arts program (t50 school). I have honors and awards but my GPA is not good. It’s 3.4/4. I went through some stuff, very reasonable once I explain it in my personal statement, that caused the drop. I have B+ in my intermediate econ courses. A/A- in intro, my degree was quant so I could get STEM OPT. I also had two classes in statistics. But overall, I look at my transcript and it’s not looking great. I worked for two years in USA, before returning to my home country. I am aiming to give GRE early November, my verbal is strong need to work on math. I am working part time now as a research assistant at a local research center.

I really want to give a shot at applied econ for masters, I feel so bad I didn’t get the chance or didn’t have the foresight that I have now in undergrad that I didn’t focus on academics more. I once had 3.8+ CGPA, and was doing great on paper. I just dropped the ball badly. This is not a sympathy seeking post, I am genuinely curious if I even have a shot at getting a fully funded masters program. I was on a full ride in college, I can’t simply afford masters. My income from USA went behind family support.

I hope for USA, but I am very open honestly, looking at Canada and Europe too. UK is out of question because it has almost no funding for a fully funded masters program. I can manage living cost in Europe for a year, if I can only get tuition and not living expenses. For USA, I want the full tuition+TA/RA stipend package.

Should I try for public policy/econ instead of applied economics? I have never felt so bad about my chances I always had an optimistic view of things, it’s how I got my full ride offer for bachelors in first place.

My goal is to get at least one paper, possibly two if I can manage from the research center by Nov-Dec. my work experience was in sales for 6 months and 1.5 in finance at a major city at. I found a well paying corporate job in my home country too but left it for the sake for preparing for masters, that’s how important my academic goals are. And I have to leave in fall 27, under any circumstance I really can not be in home country longer. What are my chances? Any advice? My plan is to go all in masters program so I have a good shot at PhD.

My GPA worries me, my experience is worrying me, I feel like I don’t look good against applicants who will have planned to go into academics and built their profile accordingly.
