I'm moving to the Netherlands (Maastricht) as a student at the end of the month. I sent the request already but I will most probably get an appointment for a BSN number way after I reached the city. In the student studio I rent I have all utilities but electricity included. My question is: do I need a BSN number to get an electricity contract? If I need one I'll be stuck without electricity for weeks and it seems strange...

I already found an answer on a 7y old post saying I don't need BSN nor Dutch IBAN to sign utilities, I'm now wondering if it's still the same in 2026.
