Is there a way to avoid subscriptions to renting websites?

Hi,

I´m schocked that every renting website has a subscritpion to pay if you want to contact the landlord. Like, wtf?! Sometimes they do not even post the dates available or the price, how am I supposed to know if I´m interested?? Still, you have to pay to find out! The other thing is: there are like 20 different websites with very little offers so you need liek 10 subs to contact 10 landlords. I cannot be the only one who believes this is a scam.

Loneliness (as an international student from the US)

I very recently had to say goodbye to my US friends as I just flew to Europe yesterday. Perhaps I’m just paranoid and jet lagged, but I’ve been feeling quite lonely and stressed already. Has anyone else had this experience? How do you deal with the feeling of helplessness? Is it easy to make friends in Maastricht, and are people close?

P building or Heilige Geest 7 as an exchange student?

Hey everyone! I will be an exchange student next year at the Maastricht University. I just wanted to ask which housing option should I go with? There is barely any information online. Both are single rooms. And I will be studying in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences

BSc Business Engineering -> MSc pure Engineering? Will I be locked out of hands-on prototyping/design?

Hey everyone,
I’m currently planning my studies and leaning heavily towards a Bachelor's in Business Engineering (specifically looking at Maastricht University). I really like the idea of bridging the gap between business, management, and tech, and I ultimately want to be the person who decides what a product needs to do (like a Product Manager/Owner).
Here is my dilemma: Deep down, I have a very hands-on "maker" mentality. While I don't want to study pure math or thermodynamics for 3 years, I do want to be involved in the actual prototyping, product design, and maybe even working a bit on the core tech itself.
I know a BSc in Business Engineering is more high-level and process-oriented rather than sitting in CAD all day or standing in a workshop. Because of that, I want to make sure I’m keeping my doors open.
My questions for anyone who has gone down a similar path:

  1. Is it possible to do a Master’s in

  1. Industrial Design Engineering after a Bachelor's in Business Engineering?
  2. Any advice or harsh realities would be hugely appreciated!
  3. TL;DR: Want to study Business Engineering but still want to physically design/build prototypes. Can I pivot to a pure Engineering Master's later if I want to get more technical?

Borgharen too far?

Hi everyone,

I'm an international student moving to Maastricht this August for a master's at Maastricht University (FPN).

I've found a room in Borgharen for €450/month including utilities, registration is possible.

Only concern is the location: it's about a 22-minute bike ride (6.8 km) to the FPN campus.

For people familiar with Maastricht, is that considered a reasonable student commute, or would you keep looking?

Also, would living there significantly affect social life, part-time jobs, etc.?

Is it possible to find housing without certificate of enrollment?

Hey!

So I have contacted multiple agencies and landlords and pretty much all of them ask for proof of enrollment. I am just about to graduate from my bachelor's degree and I will probably recieve the diploma in early August, by which point I will be able to tick all the boxes in the application and finally get the certificate, but I am afraid it's gonna be unreal to find housing in that period.

So my question is: how should I adress this situation? Will a conditional acceptance letter suffice?
