Did you know Chinese fondue is regularly eaten in Switzerland as a Holiday dish?
Hey all!
I just realized that the "Chinese fondue" many of us Swiss people eat during the Holidays (Christmas/New Year) is not just a fun nickname but actually came to Switzerland from China in the 1950s, first in restaurants, and then in the 1970s in families for the Holidays. It's typically beef/chicken/pork that we boil in a vegetable broth with pea starch noodles and black mushrooms.
I love how a foreign traditional dish actually ended up being a Holiday dish in my country. Of course the recipe is a bit different, as we are generally not used to spicy dishes in Europe.
