What the hell happened here?!

My experience reading the (probably) 3 biggest fanfics this community can offer!

Before I start I want to give you guys the reason why I made this. I simply wanted to geek out about the 3 GuP fanfics I now have read and I don't have any real life people with who I can do that. I only have one friend who watched GuP and he doesn't read fanfics. If I broke some kind of rule and the mods want to take this post down, pls give me a warning beforehand, if only so I can save this because I'm probably gonna take some time to write this. I know that fridays are OC days, but nothing more.

Ok, here we go.

What did I read? Flower of Oarai made by DomWeasel, Dust Devils made by AAHW and Dein Weg ist Mein Weg made by Rihnoswirl in that exact order.

All three stories are simply great and made by a quality I only ever really saw in the story ''In the Snow'' made by Cello_Hut, a Demon Slayer story nearing it's end this month. With this I want to give a shoutout to all three (4 if you count Cello_Hut here) of these Authors and finally start my geek out, if you want to call it that way.

Flower of Oarai:

Were do I start? Over a month ago a commentor on a post here made a list about different GuP fanfics he likes. I asked him what stories he knew that were high quality and long and he recommended Flower of Oarai as a really good, but not too dark/heavy story. It was incredible. The way DomWeasel characterizes Erika is simply wonderful to read. Her friendship with the crew, especially Yukari and Nakajima (I think it was her) are so wonderfully written and I wanted to see where the story was going. I was, and still am, invested in the characters and their relationship. I like how it's more or less written in a way that you could call 'canon compliant except the parts where Erika does something'. It really is a GuP story where someone envisioned a small variable to change. But not only because it's a not so dark story doesn't mean there is some stuff to go through. The way Erika heals and deals with her Trauma is nicely done (as a reader) and while it may not be a battle like Maho has in DWiMW, it still is really satisfying to see her reach the point she is now. The battles too are really great. They are about on paar with the battles written in the other 2 fanfics here, though I don't remember the details anymore. What I love is the way DomWeasel writes scenes where a certain crew is in the spotlight. They (I don't remember/know your pronoun, sorry) said in the notes that they were worried that the fights are too slow/ drawn out that way, but I don't think so. It's fun to see the perspective and their thought process in battle. It still is on my 'must read again and follow' list.

Dust Devils:

Dust Devils is a known fanfic in this subreddit. I'm sure many of you have read it, if not at least know about it. I was hesitant to start reading it, simply because it's written basically completely as a standalone, meaning over 90% are made up. Not many people manage to make a good story that independently. I went in thinking it was already finished. Yeah, I now know better. I am pleasantry surprised by it. The world building, arguably the most important thing in this scenario, is good, like really good. There are no glaring holes or anything like that to find here. The characters too are enjoyable and make you invested, or at least interested, in the story. There are many things I can say here, but I want to try to stay with a couple of things. First: I love how the Team is built and how the other schools they fight are build. Seeing tanks like the Baby Panther really got a smile on my face. Second: Drama is not drawn out. it mostly gets resolved in it's chapter or in the following one. Thank you. I was never the biggest drama fan, I have nothing against it, but there is a good reason why I don't read anything from that genre. Third: The world championships. I don't know if any official works take a slice in that, but I don't care. It's written in a really solid way and I can only applause you to that. This work too is on my 'must follow list'.

Dein Weg ist Mein Weg:

This is a bit more complicated. I was not really scared, but definitely more cautious going into this story. I have never read a story working with Trauma on a level like this before, so I didn't know how I would take it. Pretty ok, it seems. This is definitely not a light story, and Mahos problems don't disappear into nothing after a good amount of shoulder pats and the power of friendship. She as to fight for her mental sake and almost falls too deep to recover from too. More than once even, if I remember it correctly. What I find interesting is that Maho is not the only ''damaged'' person here. Mako shows that the death of her parents affected her a bit more than in canon, Hana is almost even more grown up than in the original, Saori gets interesting backstory for her motives and don't even start on the Nishizumi family, my god. Maho is, some would say 'damaged', Miho is... I don't have the right words for it... 'broken'? Hollow? I think that fits about as good as I can get it to fit. And Shiho, my god do I HATE Shiho in this story, but that just means the author did a good job with the character here. The characters are made in such a fleshed out way, it truly is impressive, and that's not even all of them. Azusa, the student counsel, Erwin. I love how Erwin takes a more important role in this story, truly thank you. This story is probably, on the quality side of things, the best one of these three, but it definitely takes the cake with it's characters. I don't even know what to say, so I'm going to let it stay like this. To nobodies surprise, this story too is on my 'must follow list'.

Can I rank these stories? No. I simply listed them in the order I read them. What is their most important aspect/trait?

Flower of Oarai is the most 'vanilla' story of them with all the match-ups staying the same, with a nice amount of 'extra' sprinkled in there. The way how Pravda got defeated was just too good.

Dust Devils is a one of a kind story. It does so many things that I can't give it a most prominent aspect. It's great and you should absolutely read it. Before I forget it, I'm hyped to see the French get their asses handed to them, it's going to be one hell of a war.

DWiMW takes it self a bit more serious and I like it for that. It's characters and character building is definitely what stands out the most. It's probably not foe everyone, but it's really, really good.

All three of them of them are still ongoing and all three of them seem to have nearly no solid upload schedule, which seems like a pattern here. That doesn't matter though, as I will happily wait for the next chapter on all three of them. I won't miss it, I have all 3 stories subscribed on ao3.

I have seen Rhinoswirl before on this subreddit, especially the meme about brainstorming new ideas and then life coming id the way with stuff, so you can't keep working on your story. I feel. I have seen DomWeasel on this subreddit before, even wrote messages with them on an older post I made here. I think I saw AAHW here before? I could be mistaken.

What matters is what I want to say here. Thank you guys for these wonderful stories, they are truly great. And to those of you who I haven't mentioned here: I'm sure your stories are great too, even if I don't know them, or don't interest me. As long as you are having fun everything's great!

(I think I was writing this for an hour, my hands hurt)

An Anime which I can't find.

I've been searching for a special anime for a long time now but I can't find it again, even after asking AI for help. Reddit is quite literally my final hope in finding it.

I've started watching Anime on Youtube in 2020, mainly watching 12 episode long Animes which people uploaded there. Almost all of them are taken down by now, barring one single exception. I don't remember all of them, only 3 of them.

The problem is that the one which I can remember the best is the one I'm incapable of finding it's name.

I remember these key parts for certain. It was set in our world, or at least closely resembling ours. The male mc is a normal guy going to school. He has that one weird girl in his class who has to take special meds regularly. One day he brings that girl something from school to her house (I don't know, maybe homework) and she lives in a very damaged house together with another girl there who is bound to a wheelchair.

Here I only remember parts of it.

He manages to bring the girls to the school owned building with which you can see the stars and stuff really good (english is not my first language, btw) He finds out that they aren't normal girls and were in fact experimented on and now have a very specific power. They now have to ingest those special meds regularly, or else they are done for. They also got special metal things on their necks due to it. Those things have 2-3 buttons around a cylinder. I know for certain that one of those buttons completely disengages that cylinder which, in turn, also kills the witch. Except that one girl with absurd healing powers, she was able to come back from that.

Those experiments were conducted by I think the state/country? Could also have been a very big privat company, what matters is that they are powerful and have Resources at their disposal. A few girls got away from them, but were Semi-actively hunted. One of the witches under their thumb had the power to mess with ones memories when she looks into your eyes. Normally she is used to extract information, but thanks to her power she was able to imprint herself as a sort of secondary mind in the memory of the MC and thus helping him out even after she died.

I'm fuzzy about a lot of in-between plot and the ending/final conflict. I do remember that the main girl lost her memories after the finale. If she lost everything or just the recent stuff, I don't know anymore, but I believe it was practically everything.

I know that this is a lot of text and I'm asking a lot here, but I really wanted to watch it again. I often say that Darling of the Franxx was my first anime, but that is not really true. I'm pretty sure my first ''anime'' is Spirited Away (why did my father show me that when I was in like second gade?!) with my first normal Anime being Ingress, the animation (took a long time to find that again too). the thing is, I watched those with my father. These long compilation/super cuts were the first ones I watched on my own and I'm just that nostalgic.

Ok, I think this is the right flair. Last year I got myself a 3ds xl for 160€ fully functional. It still works, I simply noticed by now that both screens have something wrong with them.

The upper one has a noticeable yellow tint to it. I was able to midi gate it by adjusting a few settings in the homebrew options, but I still notice it when both screens show white.

The lower screen has two bright dots(?) in the middle of it. I hope you can see it on the screen. Those are always there and also pretty annoying.

Are those perks normal or do I get rid of them by replacing the screens? Or do I simply sell it on eBay again and get myself a n3ds later on.

Ok, so I don't know how you guys will react to my question, since i haven't been in this subreddit since the game came out. I only played the game for 5-6 hours when it came out and stumbling over the first real boss after the island I simply never started the game again. I simply didn't have any motivation to keep going. Now I have some motivation again and I want to try again.

Problem is, I'm not good in games like this. Hell, I mainly play World of Tanks and currently War Thunder. Is there any way to make the game easier but not too easy? Mods included too, I have no problem with those.

I simply don't have the drive to push myself past a problem like I had in Code Vein (I'm still salty about them taking up a new universe and not continuing the old one). I want to experience the story, if I simply wanted to know what happens I would watch a Youtube video.
