I am a PhD student (Self-funded). I started my PhD in October 2025 and the program is for 3 years. I have a blocked account that will expire in September 2026 and I have a residency permit until November 2027.Do I need to renew the blocked account from September 2026? I already have a residency permit until November 2027, so I only need the financial proof of self-funding when I will renew my residency in November 2027. I can proof that I have the financial amount of the annual stay in Germany in a different current account. I just want to stop paying the annual and monthly fees of using a blocked account. Is this possible?

I cried for the first time in front of my supervisor, and I feel horrible and ashamed that I did that. I wa not planning to cry in front of her, but the topic was my PhD supervision structure that was stressing me out for 6 months now as I have two supervisors. I have been thinking about talking about this topic with her for too long and it was giving me anxiety. So when I spoke to her, I balled in tears unexpectedly. She was very kind to me and validated my thoughts and feeling, which made me feel so much better that I was not just having these thoughts in my head. But I think that it was unprofessional of me that I cried in front of her, and that might change the way she sees me. Anyone went through this too in their PhD?
