Just got finished with my first year. I remember not knowing anything about the college prior to coming here. My classmates and I will try our best to answer any questions, you can also dm me if you don't feel comfortable asking a question here :)
I(19M) was walking towards tiger circle, from down the slope, and I had just passed the police station when this cop calls out to me and says "idhar aa". Keep in mind I was just walking with my female friend not even extremely close, the cop asks me where I study, I told him my college after which he goes like "yaha college me padhne aaya hai ya honeymoon banaane" mind you he's talking to me in hindi right now. I said sorry and wanted to move on since I was with my friend, but he wasn't letting me go. Instead he started cussing at me in kanada, I don't speak kannada but I have a few friends who do. I could recognise some of the words. He kept cussing for atleast 2 minutes meanwhile I'm saying "Sorry Sir, I'll keep in mind not to walk this close", "I don't understand kannada sir" and similar phrases. He still didn't stop toh eventually I figured I should start walking away, then he goes like "yaha padhne aaya hai toh kannada seekh, yaha rehke kannada nahi seekhega?" in a very aggressive manner. I left asap with my friend, if I was alone and something similar happened to me I would have responded but since I wasn't alone I tried to hurry and get away asap. The police officer was wearing full uniform, was on a blue scooty right in front of the police station when he chose to harrass me and my friend, he kept asking us our ages. I've never faced this in my hometown and certainly didn't expect to face this situation here, especially in a student town.
Just wanted to know how to avoid such situations, even when not doing anything wrong.
TLDR: Was walking in front of the police station with my female friend when a police officer started harrasing us.
