Thoughts on Magik by Ashley Allen comic

I picked up both trades because I love the character, but it's a potential DNF for me after issue #4. Is it worth finishing? TBF this is the first Magik comic I've ever read, though I like her from the games.

I think there are some good ideas that shine but also a lot of poor execution.

Liminal as a concept is a really cool foil to magik, but my exposure to that his whole character idea was just 1 issue of endless monologuing.

Darkchylde as a haunting parasitic alter ego tied to her trauma and emotional health is cool but none of that is explored or shown enough for how much it's brought up as a central conflict.

The dialogue stinks, sometimes I feel like Magik is talking like a 1940s captain america, overexplaining things, very unlike the woman-of-few-words Magik presented in issue #1.

And for the life of me I cannot bring myself to care about this kid, I don't even remember his name, why is he here? why is he involved? bro is not Ruthye.

The visual identity is somewhat lackluster for me but I can look past that. And the cartooning is scarcely noteworty.

I don't think it's a good comic. But like i said i could see it having some cool aspects, what are your thoughts?
