Managing electrolytes during a marathon after cramping from overdrinking sports drink

I'm training for my second marathon and I'm trying to figure out an electrolyte strategy.

During my 30 km long runs, I carry 500 ml of water with only 1/4 of a SIS electrolyte tablet and refill water every 7 km. This has worked well for me, and I don't cramp despite sweating heavily.

In my first marathon, I drank electrolyte drink at nearly every aid station and eventually developed severe leg cramps. It felt like I took in far more sodium than I was used to during training.

Since I can't carry enough electrolyte drink for an entire marathon, I'm wondering how experienced runners manage this. Do you rely on aid stations, electrolyte capsules, chewables, or mostly plain water if you're already taking carbohydrate gels?

I'd be interested to hear what has worked for others with similar experiences.

Guys, the Li-Ning Red Hare 9 Ultra can do speed. Did a fast 1K immediately after 15K easy run. Sprained my ankle, but at least I know it can handle the pace 😂. What's ur budget marathon shoe rotation?

Hi, I know this is Garmin community (which should I get? Magene hr 303 vs garmin hrm 200, currently using forerunner 165)

My goal is to get precise heart rate for my easy, speed, long run. For my upcoming marathon

Is it necessary to spend 3x extra buck for the Garmin hrm 200

Because this 2 heart rate monitor idk got big difference or not

Or is my garmin 165 enough?

I got negative opinion on Li Ning Red Hare 9 Ultra(sorry for negative)

I just now supposed run my first 15km on this shoe but only run half so 7.5km cuz it feels off.

My first impression is the heel width feels smaller , it create stability issue.

The insole doesn't have arch support, I have nornal inward arch but with a shoe that don't have arch support it create pronation every step(like feet bend like this > < every step). I don't feel pronation on my Puma DN3 cuz it has arch support.

The upper foam when press is firm soft, ,the capsule is real soft, the lowest foam when press is hard. When step on 3 foam combine together all foam feels hard.

Positive: It suits forefoot strike because front width is bigger. Your leg won't sore the next day cuz comfy material but it drain your energy during run cuz the stability.

To make it better:Get a custom arch insole since the insole is completely flat so till no arch support.

Conclusions, I thought this shoe is soft for long run but foam feel hard. I end up use up lots of my energy because focus on stabilizing my leg cuz the heel width is smaller. Inside no arch support is unhealthy for shoe. If keep using, leg can cause flat feet.

Sorry for my opinion 🙏
