I absolutely think we should replace Arrow trains, they are far too old. But given the layout of the Gladstone/Morristown lines compared to the NEC, shouldn't we be replacing them with similar-type trains to what we have now? I feel like heavy-duty multilevels take so long to accelerate compared to the Arrows that we will be spending more time accelerating to a decent speed than we will actually spend traveling? As soon as we get to like 30mph, the next station will already be approaching; given the old curvy tracks, I feel like such bulky trains will top out at such low speeds that travel times will increase? I get it is difficult to replace an entire fleet with multiple models of trains, but does anyone else agree that multilevel is better for the NWK-division trains that tend to have more space between stations, and single-level fast-accelerating trains are better for the older less-engineered lines?
