Help!!! rm125 throttle cable doesn’t fit into handle

You guys are amazing first off. But I just got my 1993 rm125 running today, super cool bike and It is definitely just the beginning👀 I’m thinking bigger. First I was having issues starting it but it needed a throttle cable so I started there. Put it on, cut my kill-switch, started the bike, and had me a little fun with my Jerry rig success. Main issue now is that whoever had it before put a throttle handle on that will not fit the cable. Where can I find a throttle handle with a tighter fitting for the cable? I would try using some kind of adapter but it’s already pulling too tight when I put it in the handle correctly. Do I need a longer cable as well or is there something else I can do?

1993 rm125

Replacing the throttle a bit later after the heat dies down and hopefully I can get her started. Any tips or common issues I might run into? First two stroke so literally anything is helpful.

Help with identifying bike (older picture same bike)

Just recently got my first dirt bike on a trade. When taking a picture and searching it Google decides it’s a yz125, and I was told it was as well. Ran a bin check and the frame comes back as a 1993 rm125. I was told I t needs a new throttle cable and most likely a cdi. This is all I know so far but I don’t wanna mess with anything or buy parts until I know what it is exactly. Any help would be appreciated as I’ve only worked on minibikes and small quads so far.
