Anyone running radiator fans on a CRF250R for hard enduro/trails?
Hey guys,
I’ve got a 2007 Honda CRF250R (kickstart only, no electric start) and lately I’ve been doing more hard enduro style riding — nothing professional, just slow technical rocky trails, tight sections, climbs, etc.
The bike gets hot really fast in this kind of riding, which I know is kinda expected because the bike was made more for MX than slow enduro stuff.
I’m thinking about installing:
- oversized/high-capacity radiators
- a universal radiator fan kit
- a completely separate electrical setup just for the fan (small battery + on/off switch)
The idea is to avoid touching the bike’s original electrical system as much as possible.
Has anyone here done something similar on a CRF250R or another MX bike?
Did a single fan make a noticeable difference?
Any issues with battery life, mounting, reliability, mud/water, etc.?
I know it’s kind of a workaround and the bike isn’t ideal for this type of riding, but for now I’d rather improve it than change bikes.
Any advice or photos of your setups would be appreciated.
