Options for getting out of solar loan

Currently have a solar loan on our house, I was wondering what are my options for getting out of it? I know the obvious “just pay off the loan” but do I have another choice like refinancing the house and using that equity to pay it off? Or would I need to pay it off first before I’m able to refinance?

Carp fishing near LA

Anyone know of any spots near LA, specifically the San Fernando valley, where I can catch carp? Never caught one and I’m just interested in the experience of it.

Financing after lease

I’m thinking of leasing a 2026 Corolla hybrid. The lease payments are affordable, the car is good on gas, and reliable. I am then planning on financing it once my lease is over. My logic for this is that while I’m in school now, I don’t make that much money so I don’t want to be stuck with a 6 year loan with higher payments compared to the cheaper lease with a shorter term. Then by the time my lease is over, I would be done with school and have moved onto a better job, making the finance payments much more affordable. Does this make sense or will I just lose a lot of money with this idea? I am aware the apr on a used vehicle would be higher than a new vehicle, but will it be THAT much different?

Used Tesla/EV

In the market for a vehicle. I was wondering if anyone had any feedback regarding used EVs? Which ones are an absolute bargain? Which to stay away from? Are the used teslas any good or just garbage? My main priority is reliability. I would prefer a sedan or small suv but I really don’t care about that. I have solar at home and a level 2 charger so charging/range is never an issue. If no used EVs are “worth it”, I’m considering a 2026 Corolla hybrid just because of how good it is on gas.

Doors unlocking on their own when parked?

Firstly, I’m aware of the feature where you walk up to the car and the door handles pop out. I’ve had the car for a year and a half so I’m well aware of that. But today the car was parked in my driveway while I was in the garage and the doors randomly unlocked. Key was sitting in its usual spot inside, not with me. Doors unlocked on their own. Car was sitting there everything unlocked with my things inside it. Has anyone experienced this? What could it possibly be? I don’t want to take it to the dealer cuz the ones around me give the same excuse every time “we couldn’t duplicate the issue” and waste my time like always while not providing a loaner vehicle so I have something to drive while they pretend to look at the car.

Joining as licensed electrician

I’m in California and I am a licensed electrician. Having a hard time finding customers lately and I was thinking about joining the union. How exactly does this work? I fill out the paperwork, pay the fees, then what? Am I like assigned jobs?

Petcock hits fuel tank

My DRZ had one of those larger plastic fuel tanks on it. I swapped the old metal one and swapped the petcock over but now the petcock lever hits the bottom lip of the fuel tank when I try to put it onto reserve. Is there a specific type of petcock that is needed for the DRZ? This one seems like it isn’t long enough OUTSIDE the fuel tank so the control doesn’t go low enough to clear it. Anyone recommend a specific petcock? Thank you

Cleaning old metal fuel tank

I have a bike with original metal fuel tank that I would like to put back on. Inside seems a bit rusted. Do I just pour some gasoline in it and swish it around? I heard of using vinegar as well. Anyone have personal experience with this? Could I pour some of the metal safe simple green (the purple one) into the fuel tank? Thank you

Dealer issues part 2

So I took my car from the dealer after over a week. Gave me the same bs as usual that they couldn’t duplicate the issues that I experience literally every time drive the car. I called GM corporate. Lady on the phone said giving loaners is a dealer policy, dealer told me it’s a GM policy. Bottom line is my car came with a warranty and it’s useless as the dealer doesn’t do shit and won’t provide a loaner. I use my truck for work, I have the truck because I need it for transportation. I didn’t buy it to have it sit on my driveway and look nice. It’s at the dealer and I have no vehicle. For a rental reimbursement, they said GM only covers the costs of rental from the point AFTER an issue is found so that means for this trip to the dealer I would have to pay completely out of pocket for a rental and not get reimbursed a single penny. Paying over $600 a month for a brand new truck still under full bumper to bumper warranty and then needing to pay out of pocket for a rental? Ridiculous. My steering is rattling, axle makes noise. I feel unsafe driving the car but GM won’t do anything about it. They can’t find the issue and they won’t provide me with a vehicle to drive while I wait for them to pretend to find the issue. Now they’re escalating the issue but what’s the point if nothing is going to get resolved? Do I need to get a lawyer and sue them?

Catalytic converter protection

So I’m sure everyone here knows about the ongoing theft of catalytic converters in the SFV. My question is for those that have a cat shield or some type of anti theft device/deterent, what happens afterwards? Like they come up to the car thinking it’s an easy target, see the shield and leave. Do they come back later with more equipment? Do they try again and manage to be successful?

Confusion about door dashing in California

In California, I have a personal auto insurance policy like everyone else with full coverage from Wawanesa. I am interested in door dashing. Wawanesa says they don’t cover ride share. DoorDash has their own insurance that comes into play when I’m actively delivering an order. So if something were to happen when I’m waiting on orders, DoorDash insurance wouldn’t cover that and I would need a different personal insurance policy? And if something happens that door dash insurance DOES cover like whole actively delivering, does my personal insurance need to be notified? Will they automatically be told? Thank you

Loaner from dealer

Anyone that’s taken their car to the dealer, have you been able to get a loaner? I took my car in for issues, they said it’ll take like 2 weeks to get it LOOKED AT since they’re backed up even tho I made an appointment to avoid this whole waiting process. So I don’t get the point of the appointment. But that aside, the dealer won’t give a loaner until they diagnose EVERYTHING and the car is in there for a few things, not just 1. On top of that so far they are saying they haven’t been able to duplicate any issues (as usual with the dealers). So what exactly do I do? They say it’s a GM policy but that seems ridiculous. I’ve been left without a car. They say I can do a rent-a-car or whatever they’re called but I have to pay out of pocket and then try to get reimbursed.

Edit: car is a 2025 and still under warranty. Seems like every dealer does something to help the customers besides mine

First time ocean fishing

I’m trying to go ocean fishing for the first time. I’d prefer one of those charters that take you out and have equipment rental. During the night time would be really cool. I live in the San Fernando valley so does anyone know of any charter that’s closest to me and does the whole night fishing thing? I know about Newport Beach but I was wondering if there’s any closer. Thank you in advance.

Solar roof review after a couple years?

My question is for the people that have had their Prius prime for 2 or more years and have the solar roof option. How has it held up after 2 years? Do you regret the option? I live in SoCal so considering how much sun we get, it’s definitely something I’m considering when looking at this car

So I’m coming from a 4 stroke 250cc trail bike. Looking for more power so I was thinking of going for a 250cc race bike. However I noticed the maintenance on these race bikes is significantly more. I was wondering if there are bikes out there that make more power than the 250 4 stroke trail bikes, don’t need all that crazy maintenance of a race bikes, non dual sport, and are California green sticker compliant? I know the crf300 exists but not trying to get a brand new bike. Would the wr250f fall into this category or do those basically need as much maintenance as a yz?

Anyone in SoCal recently lease a Prius prime? Are there ever any “deals” on these or are they just marked up like crazy due to the fact that it’s a Prius? And if you have the solar roof, how “worth it” would you say it is?

Currently have a HYSA with US Bank but my APY is like 2.2%. Are there any other banks that have physical branches available in the US (I’m in southern California) that have HYSA with better rates and don’t make me keep my money in there for X amount of time minimum? I know Goldman Sachs has a nice account but no physical branches right?
I don’t have anything against Goldman Sachs or anything like that. I just thought it’s more peace of mind if there is a branch I could want into. But if people have had great experiences being able to put money into and take out of their Goldman Sachs account, I would love to hear it.
