Colleges and left wing radicalism

Hello, all! I come with this post mostly to clarify something I've been ruminating for a long time already.

I'm doing a Computer Engineering major in a big State College (not in EUA), and whenever politics is brought up, or ,honestly, even when it's not brought up and people push this subject (which is all the time), I feel that the most radical left leaning politics are not only the majority of opinions in my college, but really the only ones a student should have to be accepted socially.

This is such a huge deal that, for example, when people here realize you're not a hardcore communist, they'll use every dirty trick in the book to get you talking about it, put you in the defensive, humilliate you, etc, in order to talk about politics and then immediately put you on the spot so that your only choice is to defend their ideology or leave. This works cause there's usually other people around and it creates a social pressure to either leave or agree with them.

And I often keep hearing from people here that Science is 100% backing extreme left leaning ideologies and not any other ideologies. However, I'm yet to find proof, and not evidences, that this is the case.

Thank you for your insights!
