Questions Getting into federal law enforcement through federal civilian jobs

Hey guys,

Ex LEO

Trying to get into federal law enforcement

Was wondering how internal transfers work. I heard they were quicker and you get a slight advantage.

Say if i applied and started a federal civilian job in my area. How long would i have to work that job before i could apply for an internal transfer for a FED LEO position.

Im already applied to a few FED LEO jobs and been referred. But it’s been crickets since.

Considering applying for SFSO. Heard they have good morale but I’ve also heard that there also very short staffed.

Anyone able to provide some insight on whats its like working for them?

0180 psychologist

Hello, due to unfortunate circumstances im making a career change.

Ex-leo

Found out i might qualify to become a psychologist as i only have a psychology degree. No experience directly in the field.

My resume is law enforcement heavy. So im not sure if i would be viewed as “attractive”

Currently in the process of obtaining other minor certs

Its the air force civilian career training

How is the hiring process. Its direct hire but is the position super competitive?

Not sure what else to expect from the process. Other than being stationed at a air force base.

Trying to get back in the game CA

Long story short. Failed fto last year in CA.

applied to a lot of agencies which ended up as non selects

Applied to federal corrections. But when the person reviewed my HR packet. Said i didn’t meet federal guidelines (no background investigation simply HR paperwork). Ended up finding a copy of the federal guidelines and deducing that I got a auto DQ from failing fto. although background was clean, credit was good, and i resigned in good standing. Recommended that if i still wanted to go to federal corrections to wait 2 years.

They recommended i apply to the local sheriffs office since there hiring like crazy- allegedly.

Im not really sure where to apply at this point.

I looked over a lot of the non sworn police positions in ny region and a lot of them require at least 2 years full time experience otherwise its a auto nonselect. Most of my experience is part time jobs / internships working for PD for years.

Other than that im using my BA in psychology for other jobs and working armed security.

Kinda starting to reallocate my efforts elsewhere. So idk. Any Advice?

Deemed Unsuitable BOP.

Guys help me out a bit. Just drove 2 hrs to go to a USP. Finished the HR packet but when the HR personnel reviewed the packet.

The person who reviewed my packet looked over some guidelines. She said something about me not meeting guidelines for BOP.

I forgot the exact word for word reasons why (because i was take aback). She told me due to my experience in law enforcement im more likely to get in with the local sheriff as a deputy/CO

This is in CA btw

All im asking help me out in figuring it out what exactly i was unsuitable on. Only thing i guessed was that i don’t have 3 full years of full time experience. I just don’t remember what they said to that.

No criminal violations/ debt/ sketchy of any kind. Clean record

For the BOP process didn’t do any the testing, interview, medical stuff, etc. only thing i filled out was the packet i. The beginning.

I just dont know what happened.

Also is this nonselect or a dq

Person said i can reapply in 2 years or recommend that i reapply in two years

I sneezed

So I 25M sneezed and blew out my back twice within the last month.

Was above average active before i blew my back out. I blew it out as i was sitting down to eat breakfast. But i usually do Running, BJJ, gym

1st time i recovered nicely in 3 days.

Second time got back pain with a limp. Going to a massage therapist(once) helped a lil bit with the pain/stiffness. As I recovered the pain had slowly shifted from my back to my hamstring to my calf.

Rn theres a bit of numbness in my left outer calf and some toes which i think is slowly fading away. But when i do the figure 4 (especially to put on my socks) i feel pain/tugging in my shin area that makes in difficult.

But my question is how do i speed up recovery. As far as i can tell its not a herniated disk cuz i can do sit-up’s and flex my spine to do certain stretches.

But very very uncomfortable to sit down for longer than 5 min. ( i still gotta drive)

USP BOP Interview tomorrow

Got a interview with BOP tomorrow. They estimated it would take 3-4 hours with other testing.

My main concern are what kind of questions are they going to ask in the interview. Is it an oral board interview?

Also what are original interview forms? In the email it states to bring it.

Experienced The Sneeze of Death. Any tips on isolating the issue and recovery?

Been feeling like i (mid 20s male) gonna turn to dust this past month. 100kg 5'9''

TS happened twice within this last month. First time it happened felt my back shut down and i fully recovered in like a day or two days.

Experienced it again a week ago as I was sitting down to eat breakfast but this time it was a lot more brutal. Took a few days for my back to feel better but noticed my hamstring felt strained and the top of my left foot is slightly numb. Had a pretty bad limp in the beginning but now I can walk somewhat normally. Thankfully tiger balm help a bit for some of the symptoms.

Noticed that i have a harder time bringing up my left leg fully extended compared to my right . Other than that when driving I experience strain on the left side and its a bit of a struggle to putting on my sock for that side

Have a PT day coming up so i wanted to see if i could even do a sit up. I was able to do them just fine with no back pain at all. so im not too sure where the issue is coming from if yall could help out? also any recommendations for boosting recovery?

Putting in my application and started to pick locations.

Mostly trying to get in fast but

Hows Victorville compared to USP atwater. To my understanding Victorville is also a USP

Does BOP have onsite gyms or staffing quarters

Also considering the MDc LA / MCC san diego locations since i prefer going out to places.

Also what exactly are non custody jobs

Ex LEO/CSO soo used to the overtime

But any advice since corrections is a different ballgame especially at a USP

Gameboy pocket originally didnt power on at all. But after cleaning the interior and the power switch i was able to get the LED to power on.

Cleaned some of the corrosion from battery contacts on the Gameboy shell.

Tested the rails and noticed their was some resistance(approx .600 on the multimeter) /no continuity on one of the lines. I was testing the line between the "DMG-REG" chip to one of the pins from the bottom.

narrowed it down to C29 capacitor.

Im assuming replacing this would improve the situation. but what does this component do. and if im wrong what might be the other problems?
