Insurance denied surgery.

I’m so sad and I don’t know what to do now. I’m not sure what the next step is. Has anyone dealt with this situation before? The surgeon has multiple procedures he wants to do on my hip:

Repair of hip joint socket cartilage using an endoscope- Approved

Reshaping of hip socket using an endoscope- Denied

Reshaping of thigh bone at hip joint using an endoscope- Denied

Removal of hip joint lining using an endoscope- Denied

This is what the letter from insurance stated. The 2nd procedure was denied because “these surgeries may not be requested together.” I can understand why the 3rd one was denied cause it states imaging wasn’t sent by my doctor. The last one is denied because “this surgery can be approved when this lining is inflamed from certain diseases. The note sent to us by your doctor do not tell us that you have one of these diseases.” But I’m confused cause why would my surgeon want to do that specific procedure?

Ugh, so annoyed. I guess I call my hospital to see what I do next?

So we are all experiencing issues this morning?

Woke up right before my cat gets his food (6:00am) and i remember waiting to hear my voice and his little scurry to the feeder but then it never went off.

I’m not sure if this is the issue everyone else is dealing with. I’m quite frustrated with my feeder, I’ve only had it for 2 months…

Chronic leg soreness and tiredness

Even though my pain has gotten better through PT exercises and strength training again, I am always sore/stiff in my lower body. For example, usually my left leg/hip is bothering me…sometimes just sore achy glutes/hipflexors/quads or achy knees or achy feet/ankle/sore calves and sometimes all of these things at once. Every once in a while my right leg/hip will have the same symptoms but I haven’t had both flare up in a long time. Today my right is bothering me more than the left. Ankles/feet/quads are quite bothersome.

I’m currently laying down EXHAUSTED. Does a hip labrum tear affect others in this way as well?

I do have a MRI confirmed “partial” hip labrum tear on left hip and I have surgery scheduled in September.

What should I be doing before surgery?

Hi, I finally scheduled surgery for my partial hip labrum tear/CAM impingement on my left hip. Super not looking forward to the 3-4 weeks on crutches (hip preservationist told me) but I’m hoping this surgery can get me back to feeling better….

Anyway, I have it scheduled for September 18th, I could have it done earlier but it only works out for me and other people that will be helping me the first couple of weeks.

I’ve been doing my PT exercises 2x a week (I try to do 3x) and I’ve been able to strength train again 2x times a week (Glutes/Ham one day and Quads another)

How else should I prepare for this? Anybody have suggestions on what I should buy before then? Thanks!

Also any words of encouragement is appreciated, since January this has been more of a mental battle for me than anything. This is my first surgery ever.

Knee/feet issues

Does anyone have issues with their knees and feet/ankles? Can you explain how it affects yours? I know that can be a symptom but nobody really goes in depth about how it affects them.

My knees are usually pretty achy and I often hear pops/clicks in my knees throughout the day. (A PT i went to 3 years ago told me I have patellofemoral syndrome so idk if that plays a part as well.) My feet bother me a lot, they feel super stiff and my left foot is the worst. Kinda looks like my left ankle rolls in when I walk? Left and right knee/feet/ankles feel the same but the left is so much worse.

I’m not sure if I can blame my partial hip labrum tear on it. I also have glute pain/soreness and quad tightness.

Post-Op people, what daily activities could you do on crutches?

Hi, I’m currently trying to get a system together before scheduling surgery. I have people in my life that could POSSIBLY help. Trying to see who can help me if necessary. I understand that I’ll be pretty dependent on other people and that I won’t be able to use my injured side. But can people still bend over? How are you expected to use the restroom? Would someone need to be with me 24/7? I have so many questions. Any tips would be appreciated!!!!!!

SI joint pain not related to my hip labrum tear?

Honestly, I’m so confused. Finally met with a hip preservationist for the first time about my partial tear. I was telling him my symptoms and I mentioned that my SI joint usually bothers me. And I told him how when I got that diagnostic injection with lidocaine how my lower back pain went away INSTANTLY. He was told me that my SI joint pain isn’t related to my partial tear and how interesting that is that i felt relief after in that area. He put in my chart “Had injection intra-articular hip, that gave her 100% relief for several hours. Interestingly gave her 100% relief to her SI joint area pain” I thought SI joint pain is normal with this injury…

Now honestly I don’t care if I still have issues with my lower back after surgery, what’s really stopping me from living my life is my other symptoms. Sore glutes, quads, achy knees/feet. But now I’m worried if this surgery will even work for that, cause what if my pain ISNT from this partial hip labrum tear. I’m so confused. I know I should probably trust him since he’s the doctor and has done this surgery 2,000 times (he said that himself.) He mentioned that surgery might not help for the lower back pain but didn’t say out loud that about my other symptoms. I’m assuming it would. I only talked with him for about 15 mins. It was a very busy hospital in a big city.

I hope I’m making sense. After having pain for 6+ months I thought I knew a lot about this injury, I guess I don’t. I just don’t want to get cut into if it’s not gonna help my pain…..

Can a partial hip labrum tear really cause all this pain?

Hi, 25F confirmed “partial” tear left hip on MRI (I did get a XRAY as well on both hips). I’m finally going see a hip preservationist next week to see if surgery is the best route for me.

When I went see my first Orthopedic about my tear, he wasn’t too concerned about the tear. I’m guessing by the size of it, he was wondering if my symptoms were just tendinitis since my hip labrum wasn’t in pain/hip mobility is great/assessment went smooth/no locking sensation. That was back in May, I did PT which helped so much after just a month. But sadly I still have pain everyday; it’s not as bad as my pain was back in February/March/April. (I’ve been having pain since October/November/December, but it really flared up late January/February when I took a break from lifting weights)

Basically, I’m really worried if there’s something else…I’m also skeptical if I have another tear in my right as well, but it doesn’t give me trouble most of the time. Could both hip labrums have partial tears and cause all this pain? Or could it just be this partial tear causing it…?

My symptoms:
Sore glutes (mostly left hip)
SI joint pain
Quad pain (mostly left hip)
Knee issues (mostly left)
Feet/ankle (both)

Hi everyone, I have an upcoming appointment in July with Dr Misty Suri with Ochsner Sports Medicine in New Orleans. Does anybody have any experience with him for hip labrum surgery?

Is a Hip Preservationist worth it?

25F After months of PT and seen by 3 orthopedics, I’ve finally was able to schedule with a hip preservationist! Unfortunately, this doctor is 2 1/2 hours away from me. I’ve seen a tremendous amount of people saying to focus on talking to a hip preservationist instead of an Orthopedic. I’m really hoping this will be worth it in the end. I think I’m going to get a steroid injection while I wait for surgery (if the hip preservationist will even suggest it).

I’m curious to hear what he will say, I feel like my symptoms aren’t nearly as bad as most people in this group. I don’t have mechanical issues like catching or locking. It’s mostly a mixed of SI joint pain, glute soreness, quad tendonitis, and knee/feet pain. But that’s only a really bad day, and I don’t have those as much anymore.

I just really want to give my future self the best shot, I hope I’m taking the right path.

My PT told me that surgery can definitely lead me to early onset arthritis…so I am worried about that…but I don’t think I can live with these symptoms for the rest of my life…

PRP injection for PARTIAL hip labrum tear?

Hi everyone, just got back from the Ortho and we did the lidocaine injection to see if it’s actually my partial tear affecting me. Unfortunately it is….wonderful.

Anyway, my next two options are either steroid injection or PRP injection.

Now I really want to give the PRP injection a shot. Since I only have a partial tear, the doctor thinks it would be a good idea.

FYI, I also got an X-Ray to see if I have any hip impingement, I do not.

Please share your experiences with the PRP injection if you have had it. I understand that it won’t be comfortable for a few weeks. Thanks :)

Injections for partial labrum tear?

Hi everyone, I am 25F and I have a partial tear in my left hip labrum. I had an X-ray done on both hips (everything came out fine) and a MRI (without contrast) on my left hip labrum, only the partial tear came up everything else was normal.

I finished doing PT (did that for a month) and I’ve had a lot of improvements and I’m actually back to lifting lower body (been lifting for 4 years now, no pain in lifting)

I’m doing a lot better, BUT I’m still having issues with glute tendonitis (both sides) and upper quad tendonitis (just left, seems to be worse than my glutes). Some lower back pain as well.

I have an appointment with different orthopedic (two different orthopedics, they work in the same hospital though) for a second opinion and possibly an injection that day.
I’m really nervous about the injection; I’ve heard of people not having that much success with it/causing issues like joint deterioration.

My goal is to see if it helps with the tendonitis/if my labrum tear is even the issue…I hope I’m making the right decision. Like I said I’ve been doing so much better but sometimes my quad/glutes bother me especially the day after lifting. My soreness is unreal and hurts to even sit on my glutes.

I’m assuming my glutes are compensating for the tear, which is why I want to get the injection for my labrum. Thanks for reading, any advice/input is appreciated!

What do I do?

Hi, I work for a small detailing company and I’m attempting to run Google ads. I followed a YouTube video on how to start running Google Ads but now I’m lost at what to do next. We are getting clicks/impressions but no conversions… is this a website issue, ad issue, or both?

Thanks for reading.

When will the soreness end?

Hi everyone, I have a partial hip labrum tear in my left hip (confirmed with MRI without contrast) I finished with PT after 5 weeks of it, symptoms are drastically better now. Except my glutes and left upper quad region still feel sore. I was told that basically my glutes/quads were compensating for the partial tear and that I need to get back into strength training to get them stronger.

I was able to do a leg day (after 5 months of not hitting legs) a week ago, the next two/three days were my glutes were HORRIBLY sore, today I feel a lot better but still sore. Dealing with this soreness is not fun, it was challenging to even move.

Will this go away once my glutes are stronger? I’m willing to put up with the soreness if it means I’ll get to a point where I’m not longer feeling this. That 5 weeks of PT I was on Meloxicam but I stopped taking it 2 weeks ago cause I was told to only take it for a month. Should I ask my Ortho if I should get back on it for the time being? I really hate taking medicine cause this one messed with my cycle, but if it’s only for a short amount of time and it’ll help I’ll totally do it.

I should mention Ortho said I didn’t need surgery and PT advised me not to have surgery as well. My hip on MRI and xray looked great, only thing that popped up was my partial tear on MRI. Thanks for reading.

Exercises

Hi everyone I have a partial hip labrum tear in my left hip. Physical therapy has been going OK and I just recently finished. They told me to keep doing my exercises for the next 3 to 4 months and see how I feel. I’m slowly feeling better. Some days are different. They told me I could start getting back into the gym but just to take it slow and go light. My orthopedic said the same thing. Is there anybody on here that has started lifting again? Some exercises I should avoid doing?

Glutes/back soreness?

Hi everyone. I have a partial hip labrum tear in my left hip. X-ray came out fine/MRI only showed partial tear. Ortho and PT told me to not have surgery for the tear due being young(25)/relatively healthy hip/size of tear. PT has been helping with pain.

When I first started feeling pain it was mostly in my hip flexors, lower back, and glutes. After a month of PT/anti-inflammatory meds, I feel a lot better. But now I’m starting to have that soreness in my lower back/glutes again. Gets worse at night. Not hip flexors (thankfully)

Any advice on how to help with this pain?

I’ve only been doing PT for 6 weeks. They said it might take months with PT exercises before I feel completely normal again. Injections are the next thing if I still don’t feel any different.

Surgery or not

Hi everyone. (25F) I was diagnosed with a partial hip labrum tear on my left hip with an MRI without contrast. My ortho told me I do not need surgery and PT is helping out good bit after just 6 weeks of doing workouts consistently. PT told me to do all the exercises they taught me for the next 4 months to see if they get me back to feeling normal.

My thing is I understand that this may be a small tear but it cannot heal on its own. Why aren’t they recommending me surgery? I know the healing process is not fun and takes a long time to fully recover. I’m only 25, ortho said my hip looks healthy overall (no arthritis) and PT says I have good hip mobility. Will surgery cause early arthritis? They said the goal is to put off surgery until I’m older, but wouldn’t recovery be harder?

I’m just sad, this sucks. Me and my husband really wanted to start a family soon, but now I feel like I can’t. I also heard pregnancy will make the symptoms of my tear worse also possibly make the tear worse 😩

Should I get a second opinion? Thanks for reading.

I’m considering surgery…Every experience I have read about surgery is so disheartening and nobody is having success with their recovery. Whether that be a couple of weeks post op or YEARS. Out of the 10 experiences I have read about maybe 2 of those people are feeling better. I feel like I’m screwed for the rest of my like either way. This really sucks. Not only is the process long and mentally challenging, the financial part of this journey doesn’t make it any better. I am so so tired.

Sorry I really needed to quickly vent about this.

I hope whoever is reading this you find relief soon…
