Exercises

Hi everyone I have a partial hip labrum tear in my left hip. Physical therapy has been going OK and I just recently finished. They told me to keep doing my exercises for the next 3 to 4 months and see how I feel. I’m slowly feeling better. Some days are different. They told me I could start getting back into the gym but just to take it slow and go light. My orthopedic said the same thing. Is there anybody on here that has started lifting again? Some exercises I should avoid doing?

Glutes/back soreness?

Hi everyone. I have a partial hip labrum tear in my left hip. X-ray came out fine/MRI only showed partial tear. Ortho and PT told me to not have surgery for the tear due being young(25)/relatively healthy hip/size of tear. PT has been helping with pain.

When I first started feeling pain it was mostly in my hip flexors, lower back, and glutes. After a month of PT/anti-inflammatory meds, I feel a lot better. But now I’m starting to have that soreness in my lower back/glutes again. Gets worse at night. Not hip flexors (thankfully)

Any advice on how to help with this pain?

I’ve only been doing PT for 6 weeks. They said it might take months with PT exercises before I feel completely normal again. Injections are the next thing if I still don’t feel any different.

Surgery or not

Hi everyone. (25F) I was diagnosed with a partial hip labrum tear on my left hip with an MRI without contrast. My ortho told me I do not need surgery and PT is helping out good bit after just 6 weeks of doing workouts consistently. PT told me to do all the exercises they taught me for the next 4 months to see if they get me back to feeling normal.

My thing is I understand that this may be a small tear but it cannot heal on its own. Why aren’t they recommending me surgery? I know the healing process is not fun and takes a long time to fully recover. I’m only 25, ortho said my hip looks healthy overall (no arthritis) and PT says I have good hip mobility. Will surgery cause early arthritis? They said the goal is to put off surgery until I’m older, but wouldn’t recovery be harder?

I’m just sad, this sucks. Me and my husband really wanted to start a family soon, but now I feel like I can’t. I also heard pregnancy will make the symptoms of my tear worse also possibly make the tear worse 😩

Should I get a second opinion? Thanks for reading.

I’m considering surgery…Every experience I have read about surgery is so disheartening and nobody is having success with their recovery. Whether that be a couple of weeks post op or YEARS. Out of the 10 experiences I have read about maybe 2 of those people are feeling better. I feel like I’m screwed for the rest of my like either way. This really sucks. Not only is the process long and mentally challenging, the financial part of this journey doesn’t make it any better. I am so so tired.

Sorry I really needed to quickly vent about this.

I hope whoever is reading this you find relief soon…
