G’Kar is the GOAT

I said what I said.
I’m on a first watch and just finished season 3. His character’s growth and change is unparalleled!! And the acting…heads and pouches above everyone else. Please no spoilers about where he ends up….

KOSH

First time watcher of Babylon 5….just finished Season 3 Episode 15—Interludes and Examinations. And Kosh is dead!!!! I can’t believe they just killed off the station guru/prophet/god, etc. And Londo—-UGH—-love the actor, love the performance, but I am SO frustrated with him and his tunnel vision. G’Kar was and still remains my favorite!! Just wanted to catch up anyone who cares that I am loving this journey!

The Coming of Shadows..B5 first watch

First time watch EVER of Babylon 5. I’m avoiding spoilers so I’m posting for those who want to vicariously experience a first watch but I’ll try to avoid reading comments—-
Dear Baby Jesus, this episode!!!!
This episode was so dense and heavy. So much went down I feel like I need to watch it again immediately. The acting! The acting! The acting!!!!! G’Kar—-my god, the switch from hopeful optimism to complete devastation. That last close up in the council room—it killed me. And Londo—-he’s like a cornered rat—playing the part, speaking the lines, but underneath you can feel the layers of doubt and regret. I can’t wait to see what’s coming next.

First time viewer

I am a recent convert to SciFi TV. I started with Star Trek—and recently began watching Babylon 5. I just finished episode 10 in season 1 (Believers). What a gut wrenching ending!!! I feel like ST would have found some way (or loophole) for things to work out for everyone. But not here; this was dark. I’ve heard from friends that the best is yet to come—-that when the major plot kicks in, it’s a whole other level. Loving the relationship/animosity with G’Kar and Londo: those actors are chewing the scenery and leaving everyone else around them in the dust (imo). How does everyone else feel about Believers? No future spoilers please.

Miles would never….

Every time there’s a sketchy, dangerous away mission going on and some rando like Kelso is manning the transporter, I know something’s going down. I said what I said. Riker and Data are about to explode because of some neutrino buffer gobbledygook, and bam, “I can’t get a lock on them.” Get Miles on duty and let him take care of business.

The Outcast

I’m on a first watch of TNG and just finished the Outcast. What a tremendous and timely episode of television, here in 2026. Perhaps it’s because I’m a parent of a gender nonconforming child, but it was one of the most moving things I’ve seen in quite a while. I can’t believe I only discovered this show (and ST all together) in my 40s but I’m fully on board. Anyone else have a strong personal reaction to this or other eps?

Ensign Wesley Crusher?

First watch of TNG….so in the first season, Wesley tries to get into Starfleet Acadmey and doesn’t (why they only take one person seems whackadoodle but whatev) and then we’re here in season 2 and he’s an ensign. Did he go? Did he get excused from going? What happened?

Grades

Anyone else out there fighting their own hangups about grades? I have a very bright 6th grader. He was reading at 3, identified as gifted in the elementary school. In sixth grade, he maintains an A or high B average in all advanced classes. I was the kind of student who would get extreme anxiety if I earned anything other than an A. I know he’s highly capable, but I certainly don’t want to pass on my own stress but I find myself feeling a pinch of concern with the Bs. I tell myself that I gave myself extreme anxiety for no apparent reason; my grades have had no bearing on my life right now. Anyone else struggle with this?

First watch of TNG—-I started my ST viewings with Voyager then DS9 (yeah yeah I know—-I’ve never been normal). All this to say, I remember an episode where Janeway was all over Harry Kim for hooking up with some alien chick and how it went against everything he should be doing. But yet so far, Riker seems to be hooking up with whoever the heck he wants to. They were just on a female dominated planet (season 1) and he’s making out with the leader while everyone else is searching for survivors of a freighter crash. So he can and no one else can? What exactly is the protocol?

First watch of TNG—-just watched ep 8, The Battle. I’ve had fun watching the first several episodes—-wouldn’t call them great, but they’ve been a hoot. This episode though—the Ferengi messing with Picard—I thought this was the best one so far. Definitely better than the execution happy sex planet that came before. Without detailed spoilers, what are your favorite episodes of season 1.

First watch of TNG—-(started my Trek exploration with Voyager then DS9). I turned on episode 4 (The Last Outpost) and Ferengi are mentioned right off the bat. Of course I’m excited, because I want to see how they evolved from then to how they appear in Deep Space 9. And after the credits roll, I see first up—guest starring Armin Shimerman! “ITS QUARK!!!!” But not. These Ferengi weirdos seem like angry, cavemen performing modern dance—-the way they wave their arms about, grunting and twirling all around. I’ve laughed out loud more these past few episodes than I have at any episode of whatever Tim Allen show is currently running on TV. I don’t know if I’d call them GOOD episodes but I’ve been having a blast.

Hello all! Started my Star Trek journey with Voyager, followed with DS9, and now I’ve gone back and started TNG. How goofy the first two episodes were and I generally love some camp but this was something else altogether. Q shows up (who I met in Voyager) and then there’s some airborne sex disease in ep 2. I know this show is beloved but I hope it gets better. 😀

Edit: And when I saw Worf in ep 1 and knowing DS9 Worf I fully yelled at the TV “what the hell is wrong with him?”

And Miles was there—without a name!!! They just kept calling him “com”. 😂🤣😂🤣
