I was lucky enough to be gifted several skeins of silk & linen yarn (https://shop.sweetgeorgiayarns.com/products/flaxen-silk-fine). I have enough to make a t-shirt, which in theory seems like a good summer knit. But I’ve never knit anything other than hats & scarves with yarn wasn’t at least partially wool based.

What tips do folks have for this type of yarn? What do I need to know about knitting with it, and the characteristics of the finished fabric/garment?

Is a t-shirt a good use for it? If yes, does anyone have a pattern recommendation that will work well with this yarn? I’m looking for some that is V or scoop neck, doesn’t have a drop shoulder, and (preferably) has some bust shaping.

Does anyone know of a pattern for an advanced beginner similar to these shorts? I’m looking for something less structured than Bermuda style shorts but not as casual as cargo shorts. I’d want to make them out of a lightweight cotton or cotton-linen blend. Preferably something with a zipper. Pockets are a must. 🙂
