Seen as a failed experiment by most
But this and Final Fantasy III are up there as my favorite games of all time, Akitoshi Kawazu clearly had his niche with the unique levelling up system of this game and it went on to spawn the SaGa franchise, truly inspiring and a testament to how important FFII is.
Is the SFC Satellaview worth buying outside of collecting?
Title is the main question, at least with say, the Mega Drive it has addons worth buying for Sega CD & 32x games. However, does the Satellaview fall under that or is it strictly a display piece now? Surely some dedicated fans have managed to get a broadcast online for this thing.
First time beating Final Fantasy III, my thoughts.
This game is phenomenal, I consider it a masterpiece. It had me hooked from start to end, some of the best dungeon design, some of the best bosses and enemy designs, the difficulty is perfect and it never gets unfair but it also doesn't get that easy either. I loved everything about this game, from the characters you meet, the realisation you're living on a Floating Continent and the entire world has been flooded by Xande, it's all perfect and I'd like to address a lot of the undeserved and extremely unnecessary hate this game gets.
FFIII did the Job system first and did it extremely well for being the first, Final Fantasy V would refine the mechanics of the Job system to be much better and more accustom to what FFIII was trying to get players to do (mix and matching jobs and swapping compositions for a lot of bosses, like a puzzle almost) but I still think this game has some of the most fun Jobs ever, the final trek of the game where you're told of the Sage & Ninja jobs and you trek through the Eureka dungeon to get all the end game weapons and gear had my heart racing, I truly felt like I was a warrior fighting my way through and preparing myself to fight the true incarnate of evil and protect all the people I have grown to love throughout the game.
The story is damn simple but it has a lot of depth, discovering that our heroes are living on a Floating Continent upon a flooded world still caught me by surprise even 3 decades after this games initial release. The main antagonist can be seen as half reasonable in his ambitions after Noah gifted Xande mortality, a great gift as said by Unei but one he could not appreciate leading to the events of the game and the inevitable return of the Void, the Cloud of Darkness and also this franchises first ever Female villain.
The difficulty has always been the complaint everyone has with this game but from beginning to end, I had no problem with it. In fact I am going to double down and say I actually LOVED the Crystal Tower, the bosses you fight to get the Dark Warriors are all tough but extremely fun, Ahriman is obviously my favourite and it was cool to see he would make his return in FFIV (another game I love dearly). The difficulty of this final stretch is greatly exaggerated, by the time I reached the Crystal Tower for the first time I was around my late 40s in level and I didn't grind the entire game, only stopping to grind for an hour to get to the low 50s before I felt comfortable going forward. I stocked up on so many elixirs after hearing all the horror stories of this dungeon and yet I only had to use what, 1-2? My sages carried me throughout, and their ability to use Black Magic and Summons only made the trek much easier than I was expecting.
The Dungeons are the real bread and butter for me, the Cave of Shadows is my favourite dungeon in the entire game having to go in with all Magic Knights and a White Mage was so fun, enemies hit insanely hard in this game but it only amped up the stakes and tested my ability to navigate a very long maze like dungeon while keeping everybody alive. That kind of adrenaline I haven't felt in a long time, like I said before this game really makes you feel like a warrior having to save the world and facing all the hard challenges that come with it. Final Fantasy III is the most pure, back to basics and traditional JRPG on the NES and I implore anybody who took the time to read this to play it. I didn't use save states, I didn't use rewind or fast forward, it took me no less than a week. Experience this game for yourself, if you can stomach some minor NES jank and certain difficulty spikes at points (which mostly involve cracking those aforementioned puzzles with the bosses and dungeons requiring specific party setups) then you will love this game. Hell, if you loved Final Fantasy V then you will likely enjoy FFIII even if this game's Job system isn't perfect, it is still the most fun you'll ever have.
This is my calling to get a lottery ticket
I don't think I'll attempt to get the full onion gear but getting the sword by complete accident was a welcome surprise.
Happy (late) 35th Anniversary to my favourite game of all time.
Final Fantasy V, as it was meant to be experienced.
Absolutely love this game to death.
I finally beat Earthbound (Mother 2)
A week or two ago I made a post mentioning I was playing the game for the first time (and this being my first mother game - https://www.reddit.com/r/earthbound/s/w0KwOn7UaJ), never expected the game to hook me like it did and after about a week I can finally say I've beaten one of the greatest video games of all time.>!!<
My first time experiencing Mother (Earthbound)
I was only vaguely aware of the game from really old internet references but never had much exposure to it (being european and all). Today I will finally change that, really looking forward to it!
In my opinion, the GBA ports of the SNES/NES FF's are definitive.
Faithful to the original, bonus content and new features, there is a lot of reasons why I think the GBA versions are the definitive ways to play these games. What do you all think?
Can't believe Bimmy did a complete overhaul on his channel
Sony Trinitron KV-14M1U not displaying colour
Hello all, sorry if this is a bit of a silly question as I haven't had a CRT since I was a child. I recently got an AV modded Famicom, before that i've been using most of my consoles with an RGB cable but the famicom doesn't natively support RGB so I stuck with an AV modded one. Upon powering it on, the game runs at it's intended 60hz but it displays no colour. My TV is capable of NTSC display but i'm unsure of why it won't show any colour.
The Mega-Man 2 Episode of J&MM is probably my favourite
You could really hear the passion between both James & Mike in this one, both grew up with the game. Super wholesome stuff, makes you wish even more they'd go back to J&MM. Nothing but good memories.
Are Sega Mark. III games compatible with the Mega-Drive?
Hope this question is on-topic, but i'm aware that the Mega Drive has a master system adapter for SMS games as a form of backwards compatability but will this also work for the Mark 3?
Imo one of the funniest troll channels but he hasn't uploaded in nearly a year
