New IWC Mark XVi Spitfire Owner - Input Request!
New to the IWC fam and very excited about it.
Recently picked up a MarkXVi Spitfire, it’s glorious.
This is gonna be a keeper for me so want to treat it right! A few questions for input:
1.) Want to send it jn for service as I’m not sure of the history. It’s running about +12s and amplitude is on the lower end, around 200.
There is also a small brown spot on the minute hand, hoping they can replace.
I have this registered with IWC and planned to send directly. I have heard not great things about their servicing, would it be better to send to an independent watchmaker, I don’t believe this is under warranty still.
Quote from IWC is $650, sure if it needs parts it will increase. Because I don’t have a card, thinking to go the IWC route would be better. However, it’s a $3k watch so want to keep servicing costs in perspective.
2.) Am I able to find the year of manufacture from the serial? Its registered with IWC, though does not give any data other then the model.
