How to Manifest:A One-stop Guide to Every Technique Worth Knowing

I've noticed nobody in this community has really broken down the actual techniques side by side. So I pulled together a breakdown of the major schools — core work, technique, and the actual belief behind each — based on about two years of reading and practicing across most of these. Hope it helps you find what fits.

Camp1: Belief Creates it

(Start inward, aim at a specific outcome)

Person Core Work Key Technique Core Belief
Florence Scovel Shinn The Game of Life and How to Play It (1925) Sponken Affirmation Speak the outcome into being; spoken conviction sets that law in motion
Neville Goddard The Power of Awareness (1952) SATS — State Akin To Sleep Live in the end: assume the feeling of the wish fulfilled, and reality will conform to your assumption.
Joseph Murphy The Power of Your Subconscious Mind (1963) Repeated subconcscious suggestion before sleep Whatever is impressed on the subconscious becomes the blueprint for outer circumstance
Abraham Hicks Ask and It Is Given (2004) Emotional Guidance Scale; Ask-Believe Receive; You attract what you vibrate, not what you want.
Vadim Zeland Reality Transurfing (2004) Outer Intention;Slide;Reducing Importance All possible outcomes already exist in an "alternatives space"; reduced attachment lets you drift into the one you want
Rhonda Byrne The Secret (2006) Ask-Believe-Receive Like attracts like — thought and feeling emit a "frequency" that draws matching outcomes

Camp2: Belief Alone Isn't Enough

(Start inward, require more than belief)

Person Core Work Key Technique Core Belief
Wang Yangming (王阳明) Chuan Xi Lu(~1512) The unity of knowledge and action A belief that is never enacted was never real knowledge to begin with — knowing and doing are one act
Yuan Liaofan (袁了凡) Liaofan's Four Lessons (~1602) Ledger of merit and demerit — daily tally of concrete deeds "Destiny is made by me, fortune is sought by myself" — fate is rewritten only through verified conduct, not belief alone
Eckhart Tolle The Power of Now (1997) Presence Realize deeply that the present moment is all you ever have
Michael Singer The Untethered Soul (2007) Surrender Freedom comes from releasing all grasping at outcomes, not from directing them
Roxie Nafousi Manifest: 7 Steps (2022) Vision Board;Guided Visualization We can only manifest what we believe we deserve
James Doty Mind Magic (2024) Mind Magic(4 steps) When our brain changes, we change. But when our heart changes, everything changes

I manifested my dream school (didn't even know I was doing it)

Let me be completely real with you guys. I didn't grow up watching The Secret or reading Neville Goddard. I was born and raised in China, where the concepts of "Manifestation," or "vibrational frequency," or "Law of Attraction" were basically non-existent in my daily life.

I didn't even know these words existed until last year, when I suddenly fell down the rabbit hole of studying both Eastern and Western manifestation techniques & philosophies. I was fascinated. I started learning about subliminals, affirmation words, vision boards, scripting, building up good karma…… I could sit here and write a whole systematic deep dive on the results I’ve gotten, but I’m going to save that for a future post.

Instead, a few days ago, I had a massive, mind-blowing epiphany.

Exactly 10 years ago, I somehow manifested my absolute dream school. And I didn't even know I was doing it.

Still have the offer letter in my mailbox..insane!

Back then, I was just a college student.

A year before I even started my application, I traveled to London and physically walked past the LSE campus. My travel companion turned to me and asked, "Do you want to study here?"

I simply nodded.

There was no hesitation, no weighing of the odds, no inner voice asking "Am I good enough?" I just held the feeling of being there, packed my bags in my mind, and walked toward it with pure assumption.

I still remember feeling this intense, unexplainable resonance with the school’s motto. I didn't know the fancy manifestation terms back then, I just knew I belonged there.

And to make things even crazier, I was attempting a massive major change. On top of that, I suddenly had to prep for the GMAT from absolute scratch in just 1 month.

It was a brutal, sleepless sprint. But strangely, I didn't panic or fall into the trap of limiting beliefs. Growing up in China, I was raised with the deep-rooted belief that doing good deeds accumulates merit (行善积德). We didn't call it manifestation — we called it being a good person, planting good seeds, and trusting the universe's reward. I had zero anxiety about "will I be enrolled?" because my focus was on perfoming the best I could do on each step. For results? Mom always comfort me that good karma would pave the way.

When I finally got the acceptance letter 10 years ago, I became the first student in my Chinese university's history to ever enter LSE. Back then, I just thought, "Wow, hard work and good deeds pay off!" I treated it as a normal achievement.

But now, looking back through the lens of manifestation, my jaw is on the floor. I was operating purely on instinct. I was in a state of absolute KNOWING & completely letting go.

Have you ever had a moment where you realized you were manifesting long before you even knew the word? I’d love to hear your stories!
