What do you want to hear from a Parent if at all at first visit?

If a parent thinks their child (14) may have behavioral issues that need addressing by a therapist, what kind of information do you need from the parent if any? Would that information cloud or create judgment when you meet the child? Do both parent and child come in together on the first visit or is the first visit for the parent or child only?

Why do new parents expect their parents to know or be up to date with new parenting skills if they have not shared or discussed their likes and dislikes about their kid to said parents?

I keep reading about Grandparents did this or that to my kid and I'm upset; my question is always but did you set ground rules. Your parents are more likely to treat your kid the way they treated you growing up and you survived just fine lol. After you grew up they've had no reason to keep updated with how to take care of babies.

The fact that you even ask your parents to babysit at all tells me that you have a trust in them, so why not just share your ground rules from the start and explain why?
