Now the ghost of KF is manifesting in NYT Letter Boxed.
I’ve been generally bummed about the end of KF, but it wasn’t until yesterday that one particular reason became clear. The boys called it quits on their own terms, and I am envious.
It seems like their situation with the podcast had become more and more tenuous over the past few months. Rather than waiting for things to achieve critical mass, they made the decision to move on.
How many of us have soldiered on through difficult situations, whether it was a toxic relationship or a corrosive work environment, long past the point when it would’ve been eminently reasonable to make a change? To their credit, Dan and Jordan didn’t let it reach that point.
When I was stuck in a high-stress, low-pay job, a friend asked me why I didn’t quit. The only thing I could say was, “I got on the treadmill and I don’t know how to jump off.”
Dan and Jordan jumped off the treadmill. Rather than envy them, I hope I can learn from them.
