Buy VA without PPI?

Found a 2020 WRX in my exact preferred spec. (To the exact T) Everything is stock except for BC coilovers. As per the dealer, it was owned by a Subaru mechanic at the exact Subaru dealership it’s for sale at. Talking to the service department they said that if it was modded previously and obviously that they usually send it to auction, so seeing as it’s for sale at the dealer is a green flag. Carfax is exceptional…. Like alignment, tires and brakes every 100 miles. (because it was owned by a mechanic there) the only iffy thing is the coilovers. Which aren’t Inherently a red flag, just shows the potential for previous spirited driving. In fact this is probably a green flag when buying a WRX. An enthusiast owner who was meticulous at servicing.

Now I wanted to get a third party PPI done but I’m way out of state and the logistics of getting a Subaru specialist to inspect, test for a previous tune, etc are just not feasible. So my question becomes…. Should I just purchase remotely. So that this one doesn’t sell before I can get there? Or is that rushing out of emotion

I should also mention this is out of state so I’m considering having a third party PPI it for me. But wanted to get the opinions of Subaru enthusiasts that are much smarter than me here. I’ve been on the search for a long time and at this point finding a good VA is just stressful. Engine bay, exhaust looks all stock yet very well taken care of.

Looking at buying a ‘20 WRX. Has 31k miles for roughly $24k. It has tasteful mods like TEIN suspension a GREEDY exhaust, STI short throw shifter and some other just Cosmetics (mudflaps, wheels, etc.) which are all mods I would’ve likely done myself. It also has a COBB sf cold air intake that has NOT been tuned. The carfax are outstanding with oil changes every 3k miles on the dot. And the previous owner was an “older gentlemen” who looked to take care of it well.

Like I said The Intake has NOT been tuned and obviously no access port. I told the dealer that this was a concern of mine and would

Prefer they either replace the intake with a OEM intake or pay to have it tuned before I buy. Obviously they won’t pay to have it tuned but have relentlessly told me that it doesn’t need to be tuned…. Which I know is just not true. Based off the tons of anecdotal stories and because of Cobb and Subarus own words on modding.

Now I am not that well versed on cars or the modifying of cars. I have always wanted a raptor eye WRX but mostly as a fun car that I can trust and drive for as many miles as possible. Normally I would just turn away from this… but the 31k miles and full transparency of maintenance and inspection keep me interested…

For someone who just wants a WRX that you can trust, what would be the next move? They told me that they would pay to have the OEM intake replaced (with a used one) if I finance through with them (which isn’t a problem) everything else about the dealer seems great (as far as dealers go of course) but this intake has definitely been a stressful factor
