I found it in a box of old aircraft parts from the 1950s. I can't figure out what it is, but I'm really curious. Since it's almost all brass, is it for a magnetic instrument?
heavy. 9"
The eyelet swivels.
When the screw on the bottom is removed there is a flat plate that seems to be attached to the cable inside the spring. When the plate is depressed, the cable pushes up against the spring, causing it to go a little limp.
Only markings I found were on the screw: "WT-7-C"
I tried posting on r/whatisthisthing but it keeps getting banned for some reason. I doubt any of those know-it-alls would be able to figure it out anyways.
I can't get the damn drawer open. Tools in the bottom drawer shifted and locked it up.
Is there a trick to getting these 1950s drawers off, or do I just cut this fucker open and throw it away?
Passing trucks with nothing in their bed. Such a waste of gas and space.
I'd highly recommend watching ebay for pre-built tool boxes. You can get some really good deals, when you buy everything at once.
Since we really only work on the R-1820-80s that are on N98TP, we'll be replacing the metric wrenches with a second SAE set, and the allen key drawer will be modified to include dsuz gromet dies, a few other wire twisters, snap-on strap filter wrench, etc.
Happy late AMT Day
