Lakes trail sequoia NP

The rangers told me about the sites on the “bluff” of pear lake so that’s where I pitched. No mosquitoes or ticks to report. No bears but a lot of marmots around. I do wish I had taken the hump and watch tower back instead of watch tower both ways. Definitely recommend pear lake over emerald if you can make it. The night sky was breathtaking. I’ve never seen the milkyway with my own eyes like that. Rangers were at pear lake when I arrived around 3 but left around 4pm. I think I’m the only person whose permits got checked.

Statement released by park officials regarding visitation, traffic, and parking

Yosemite had 654,356 recreation visits in July 2026, an increase of 6.1% from July 2025 (616,551 recreation visits) when a peak-hours reservation system was in place. Most of the increase this summer has been on Thursdays and Fridays, when there is ample parking availableSo far in 2026, the park has hosted 2,657,602 recreation visits, up 8% from this time in 2025 (2,460,675 recreation visits).

Thousands of people continue enjoying the park every day. Key Improvements in 2026:

◼ There have been only two days of significant traffic delays this year, a dramatic reduction from 120+ days of gridlock in previous years. Thanks to one-way traffic patterns and proactive management, traffic flows freely in Yosemite Valley, even on weekends.

◼ Sufficient parking is available Sunday through Friday in all areas of the park. On summer Saturdays and holidays, Yosemite Valley parking typically fills by 10–11am, but parking remains available elsewhere. All parking in Yosemite has not filled any day this year.

◼ Entrance lines move faster than ever with entrance waits under 15 minutes most of the time; Saturday mornings average 30 minutes, with maximum waits around 1 hour. This is much improved from previous years’ 3+ hour waits.

◼ Most visitors board the first shuttle arriving at Yosemite Valley stops, with longer waits possible throughout the day and on Saturdays.

JoJo (3900/FE) said he got 5 bodies…

We know he got 2 legal hats. One in sac and one in the town. He beat both those cases. So that means there’s 3 more in the streets. Jojo certified compared to chai or fredo who got no confirmed hats.

Person drowns at popular Yosemite National Park swimming hole, officials say

A person drowned this week at a swimming hole in Yosemite National Park, authorities said, the second reported water-related death in the park in recent weeks.

The Mariposa County Sheriff's Office confirmed a death in the Wawona area but referred to the National Park Service for additional details. Yosemite officials did not immediately release additional details about the Wawona death.
YourCentralValley.com reported Thursday that the person drowned Tuesday at a swimming hole beneath Wawona Swinging Bridge. The person's name, age and hometown have not been released.
Wawona Swinging Bridge is a popular spot in the southern part of Yosemite. The Yosemite Mariposa County Tourism Bureau describes it as a 0.75-mile round-trip hike from the Swinging Bridge trailhead at the end of Forest Drive. The area includes a swimming hole and "wading-depth waters," with rocks and boulders along the Merced River.

The death comes about a month after another fatal water incident in Yosemite.
In June, 22-year-old Josue Baires Alfaro died after being swept over Nevada Fall, according to the Mariposa County Sheriff's Office. The National Park Service said at the time that it was investigating an incident involving a young man at Nevada Fall but released few other details.
The limited information comes as the Interior Department and National Park Service face broader scrutiny over how they communicate about deaths and serious injuries in national parks.

The Los Angeles Times reported last month that an internal Interior Department memo directed park staff not to confirm deaths or details about severe injuries. Federal officials said the guidance was not intended to conceal information and had been mischaracterized, and that the department must balance public safety information with investigations, privacy concerns and next-of-kin notifications.

2 letter is the least known about in Oakland

2 letter/FE/FuckEverybody. Ain’t new. Lotta people think it is but it’s been a round. My older homie from stone city was original FE. The way he explained it him a his homies got tired of hustling under older cats and decided to make they own shit. It ended up branching out to San Leandro/ Hayward cause that’s where they was getting money at. Lotta people will speak on FE like it ain’t from Oakland cause cold game from Ashland/San Leandro but it really started in the deep. But Ashland really just hella blocks of low income/ section 8. It’s significantly better than Oakland but it’s a has hoods that’s been around (159th,164th,167th). FE don’t really have a lot of youngsters. It mostly grown ass men. As far as Oakland. They in the 100s, the Alvin Grooms apts in the 80s and in the 30s. I’m sure there more but I don’t know every hood cause like I said they keep it low key. FE was fucking with stubby but not as much as they did. (Spideyy fucked that up). But from what I hear FE really the ones going at it with the cases.

Yosemite cuts down gridlock traffic by 98%. Visitation up 12% according to DOI

Yosemite cut down gridlock traffic by over 98%, according to the most recent reporting by the Department of the Interior (DOI).
They say the park once saw more than 120 days of traffic gridlock a year; this year, there were only two, and they both were over Memorial Day weekend, a peak time for tourism.
They add that Saturday waits at the gate, which once stretched to three hours, are now usually under 30 minutes.
And to top it all off, they say it comes as visitation is up 12%.

According to the DOI, it’s all possible because of “a lot of small, smart changes,” including digital site passes, digitized America the Beautiful passes, streamlined reservation checks, new fast lanes, and public Wi-Fi at the South and Big Oak Flat entrances.
They also recently debuted real-time wait information for three of their most popular entrances, helping visitors to better plan their route. As of the writing of this article, all entrances with information had wait times under one minute.

Why North Oakland never divided.

North Oakland different than the east and west because it never split. It’s the smallest “side”
Of Oakland. Only about 30 blocks. It runs from about 40th to 66th street. See unlike the rest of Oakland which tends to be divided the north used to only beef with south Berkeley for the most part. That war is a long one. With like 2 decades of bodies on both sides. Around 2014 the north (which had some movement in the rap game at the time) ended up clicking up with cases. This was kinda big cause it wasn’t just one part of the north but the whole section. They had a new click called “freeze em” (the north always been called North Pole /polar bears/bearfaced). This kinda put some of the older heads from the north in a weird position cause the north never got caught in the politics like that. Now they damn near a decade into it. And whether the OGs like it or not sides have been chosen.

School St/39th vs High st/Fairfax

These hoods used to be cool for a long time. Both always been about getting money and keeping low key. When the town split these hoods became divided. I don’t know/won’t speak on the causes but basically these hoods share dead homies. Once the split happens it got crazy. I don’t know when the initial fall out happened but by 2019-2020 it was beef. School street and 39th clicked with 2’s/3’s and High St/ Fairfax clicked with 4 letters. It’s got spunky on both side for a minute. Where it was not safe to be on the blocks for a few years (still lowkey a risk today). In the midst of this there was some cases from 35th. That block is gone. Both these hoods get slept on and both will say the other ain’t active. But both of them got history and been around and used to fuck with each other. Just another example of how modern politics changed Oakland.

The wild story of bookers liquor

Bookers (USA) liquor is an infamous spot in the heart of the bossland (Birch, Olive, Sunny Side) section of East Oakland. It’s has always been a money spot since way back. Booker Boys was its own click back in the day. The original owners were tapped in with the hood. For at least the last decade it’s been stronghold spot for nut case/4 letters. The spot was infamous enough to get in the “tell me when to go” video in 06/07. Here where it gets crazy. 2021. There was a homicide inside of the store.. basically one of the case gang members had strap tucked in the store. Someone came in and stole the strap. So dude came in the store tripping and ended up getting killed. This ended up sparking a war with the owners of the store.. because basically cases felt like they had something to do with the gun getting stolen as if it was a back door situation. This led to multiple incidents, including a house, being set on fire that killed a worker of the store as well as their kid and also a separate shooting that happened in West Oakland at a liquor store owned by the same family that owned bookers. The store was closed for like three years but the trap didn’t die. The store recently reopened under new ownership.

The 69 vil vs 65 vill beef

These are two of the oldest hoods in Oakland that are still active today. They are two very large public housing projects that are right next to each other. Each taking up multiple blocks. Back in the 70s and 80s when Phelix Mitchell ran the east the two were together. He used these projects as one of his main traps given it proximity to the near by BART station (subway). The 1990s seems to be when the split happened. Theirs different rumors about what caused the fallout but I’ve heard some crazy stories about what happened after. See these projects are gated off now. You can’t just ride or walk through them but back in the day they were wide open. So you got two projects across the street from each other just going at it. Both with a lot of dope money and members. From my understanding the war has picked up and died down many times since the 90s. To this day the animosity is there. But the 69 vil went through heavy gentrification. I just stated seeing people back over there in the last few years. Their clicked up with case. 65 vil had some motion like 10 years ago when project poppa (rapper) was blowing up. They had some Detroit connection with band gang/shred gang (they were clinging shred for a minute) but for the most part have always reminded independent/not clicked up.

Acorn and ghost owns beef changed nor cal politics.

Before it was case gang VS Stubby ENT it was Acorn (gas team) and Ghost Town (OTB). The beef goes way back. Mac blast was dissing ghost town before ENT started. he also talked about taking over different blocks in the east to trap and you can hear him bang Nut Case at the end of “so much pain.”(even though he was gas team general). I say this to say that before the war really cracked off sides were already being chosen. You can really say it picked up when Ed and Nardi got killed by Air it out. ENT really stands for ED Nardi Taliban. Once that happen the beef spread fast. Gas team and case gang (boss land) become one and ghost town and green side/76th became ENT. Within 10 years the whole town changed. A lot of stand alone hoods picked a side and the city became divided. The politics started spreading out of the town. Soon Sacramento, Stockton, and San Francisco started picking sides in it too. A lot of the politics in nor cal can be traced back to this old beef between two hoods in west Oakland that’s started almost 30/40 years ago.

Was offered $18 in the Fresno area to start. Turned it down.

I worked for a guy for 3 days cash (about 30 hours collectively) I was getting 160$ a day. I was mostly doing labor but picked up a lot in just that short time. He offered me full time at 18$. I countered with 20$ and let him know I had tools (even bought some I didn’t have) and other trade experience, plus a valid DL. He ghosted me for a few days. I was told today I could come in but 20$ wasn’t an option. I would get “quick” raises based on performance. I’ve had bad experiences with that kinda agreement in the past. I turned down the offer. From research I’ve been doing 20$ seems to be the going rate for someone to enter the trade in my area. Was I wrong? I’m trying to not be to prideful but It just doesn’t seem worth it.

Today marks 11 years since the passing of Dean Potter

Dean potter was an extreme sports enthusiast and adventurer. He was well known in the climbing community and is credited with pioneering the “Easy Rider” route on El Capitan. Dean was the center of controversy regarding his climbing of Delicate Arch in Arches NP which resulted in stricter enforcement in that park (he found a loop hole in the wording of the rules that allowed him to avoid any legal repercussions). He was introduced to slack lining by the legendary Charles Victor Tucker aka Chongo. Dean was known to crossed slack lines with no safety gear. He is credited with inventing “freebaseing” (not with cocaine) the combination of free soloing and BASE jumping. Unfortunately Dean and a man named Graham Hunt were both killed during a wing suit flight in Yosemite on May 16th, 2015. They (illegally) launched from Taft point and needed to clear a notch in the ridge line. Both were unable to clear the notch and likely died on impact as neither deployed their parachute. Dean was controversial in life and death. Some see him as an extreme adventurer that pushed the envelope of what could be done. Others see him as reckless and disrespectful to nature. Either way his life is/was amazing. He made a movie called “when dogs fly” about his adventures with his cattle dog Whisper if anyone wants to check that out.

Not my video but I couldn’t believe it. Half a dozen people ascending in a flurry is crazy. Also I doubt you’re gonna see much at the top in those conditions.

A lesser known hike in the Santa Cruz area. Just finding the park is hard actually getting to the trail without getting lost is another difficulty but it was awesome nonetheless the less. A hidden gem for sure
