Crazy building managers?
So I work for a large corporate run restaurant. We are not a franchise but very frequently the building owners we lease from treat us like they are. They come in daily, make complaints on restaurant cleanliness like dirty tables, scraps on the floor etc. Normal restaurant dirtiness that happens throughout the day. I’d also like to add we have ginormous catering orders every morning and large online orders. It’s chaotic and I’m not the flash, I cant mitosis, I cannot be everywhere at once. We manage it well of course, but yes there’s always one dirty table. Theres always a 1 year old tossing food onto the floor.
It’s also a bit of an odd complaint since they come in first thing in the morning, when everything is fresh and clean. I guess they don’t like not seeing us constantly cleaning or seeing a single dirty table.
Another complaint made was about flowers, we have some hanging fence planters along our patio and a few weeks ago they began complaining about flowers not being planted in them. I’m not sure if it’s a lease violation or not but they ended up calling someone themselves to have flowers planted. So i’m assuming that fell on them to maintain?
It’s starting to piss me off with how they treat us. Always telling us how we should approach guests, asking if we’ve been busy, telling us what we should be cleaning and how many buildings they own. More recently they said they’ll no longer be coming in and will stop recommending people to dine with us because we’re “dirty” and “unfriendly.” Like okay??? Thank god!?
I’ve literally never seen building owners come in to a restaurant, let alone complain and demand/critique staff. I guess I parked by their office in the shopping yesterday, not directly in front but off to the side and one of them came out and took a picture of my car while I’m inside?? I also had a customer complain about something a few days ago and he made sure to say he’ll “report this to the owners.” because they’re “friends.” Not an uncommon lie in the restaurant industry but I think the building owners have chosen to miscommunicate their role with the company with people.
I hate them.
