How to create BRD and FRD when you only know User Stories

I have always been a squad BA (4 years) and I need help understanding how to start creating BRD/FRD/ other BA docs. I start a new job in a few weeks and want to upskill on my understanding before I join in case they throw me into it

Career Development outside of work - confidence and skill growth

I have 4 years experience and don’t feel very confident in my role as a BA. I struggle with really ambiguous problems and workshop facilitation. I also struggle with a high level understanding of business and how my team fits into a company on a wider level. I haven’t had much exposure on end to end projects or complex problems. Should I be taking my skill development into my own hands outside of work hours? AI Tool membership? Should i watch YouTube videos or sign up for a course? What have you done to help your skill development and confidence as a BA?

Catching up with ex-coworkers

Can men and women be platonic friends? If my male ex-coworker I had a lot of banter with wants to stay in touch and get lunch is he looking at it platonically or hoping for more banter/flirting? I’m scared agreeing is just leading them on because I would want to stay in touch for mentorship not flirting.

Delivering BA Artefacts

So I have been a BA for 4 years and have been in squads. I have never created most BA artefacts like BRD, SRS, Use Case Diagrams, etc

I have accepted a new contract and would like to start contracting. How do I go about doing these artefacts for the first time? Are there any resources? Do I be honest when I join and ask the senior BA for guidance?

Project vs Squad

Is it harder to be a project BA? Would you say squads are better suited for entry level and junior BAs and projects better suited to senior? If so why? Is it because project work tends to be more complex?

How technical does a BA have to be?

I don’t enjoy the technical nitty gritty. I get lost in the tech. How do I figure out where the line is between technical enough for BA/ too technical?

Squad - Not utilising BA skills just ticket writing

I work in a squad and mostly work on user stories and defects in Jira. I don’t get tasked with big pieces of work or complex stuff. I have a backlog of very basic business requests like changing script wording in our system or changing the queue we route cases to. It’s a salesforce squad. I have been doing this for 3 years as my first proper BA job after graduate program. How do I upskill when I work in a team that doesnt demand it. Do i ask my manager for more work on more complex projects? I don’t want to overwork myself either. Is there any upskilling i can do on my own?

Can i find ways to upskill with my current workload?

Epics for Standalone Tickets in Squad

I work in a squad that used Jira. We have random tickets that don’t seem to link to any other ticket. Do I create an Epic just for the sake of it? Is it bad practice to not use epics for those types of tickets? For example our platform creates cases and we had a ticket to add in wording to a certain type of case. It’s a one off. Do I create an epic and keep just one ticket under it?

Mould on Roller Blinds

I have noticed signs of mould in my bedroom. I have been guilty of not opening windows daily over the years and also in the last 6 months have started hanging wet clothes most days on a clothes rack near the blinds. I have noticed black spots all over my roller blinds. Does anyone have any experience with this issue and any advice on how to remove the mould?

I plan on moving houses after 6 months so want to avoid replacing with a new one if cleaning is an option even temporarily.

My Ovcrevus Injection Review

I has my first ever abdominal injection for Ocrevus. Had oral pre meds including zyrtec and steroids. Waited 30 min for it to kick in then nurse sticks a very small needle into your lower stomach and sticks it down. This just felt like a pinch. It took 10 min for the syringe to finish going through (it was connected to a pump for slow release). Then 1 hour for observation. Arrived 9:30 and left 11:30 so only took 2 hours! Once I was in the car I felt extremely drowsy and sleepy. Went home and had a 2 hour nap. My stomach is a buit tender and sore. A stingy feeling.

What was different to the infusion?
I didn’t experience the drowsiness during or after the infusion. No lasting stinging or soreness at the site of infusion.

I will absolutely stick to the injection and just make sure I have a rest day at home planned.

Ocrevus Injection

I had my first ever Ocrevus infusion in December and now I am having the injection rather than the infusion this week. I live in Melbourne, Australia.

  1. Has anyone else tried the injection?
  2. Where do you live?
  3. How many times have you had the injection?
  4. Any side effects?
  5. Anything go wrong in the treatment session?
  6. Will you be having it again?

Upper Back & Knee Pain - Right side only

I’m newly diagnosed and have this constant upper back pain that is new since diagnosis. It flares when I do a lot of physical activity like chores or a lot walking and also when I do any physio exercises like hip thrusts or squats. Does anyone have this experience? I feel discouraged from doing any physio or strengthening exercises as anything seems to trigger my upper back pain. I’ve gained weight too since I move less

All I think about is food

I spend a lot of time thinking about what I will be eating for the day and my next meals. I love eating and get so excited by hunger because it means I can eat again. I’ve gained weight recently and would like to lose a few kgs. Any advice to me to get me to stop thinking about food?

Some facts about me
- 9-5 hybrid office job
- I have MS which means I’m fatigued and working out/walking triggers body pain
- I eat balanced meals with protein and fibre in mind
- I drink a lot of water
- Calorie tracking seems too much effort
- My mental health is ok so I don’t THINK I’m emotional eating

Flexible Work Arrangement

I have a FWA for 2 office days instead of 3 office days (I work full time) as I care for my young child with a severe disability. I live in Victoria and want to reduce to 1 office day. Has anyone requested anything similar and had success? Feels like a big jump from 3 mandatory office days down to 1. Also any tips to help me get it approved?

Second rewatch after 9 years

I’m up to S3 on my second rewatch after 9 years. Gosh I love this series so much. As a young woman with an office job the politics really hits home even in the modern day. I can’t seem to turn it off and it’s hard to put into words why. What do you love so much about the show?
