I thought for sure that this fastener existed, but I have not been able to find it off the shelf. It is a simple bolt, with a load bearing shoulder offset from the end and a retainer groove on the end of the shank. Its use case for me is to adjust and apply pressure to a countersunk plate while retaining the plate when not under load. I am flexible on the specifics, it could be retained with a cotter pin or anything else. I made this on a lathe just to demonstrate.

This same idea could also be achieved using a bunch of nuts and washers on a stock bolt, but it would be a lot less elegant. I tied up a support engineer from Misumi yesterday for the better part of an hour looking for this, to no avail. Has anyone ever seen this before? My best attempt at nomenclature has been all variations of "Captive Shoulder Screw" or "End-Retained Shoulder Bolt with Reduced Shank" but it hasn't gotten me anywhere. Any advice?

I have a large, ~700 sqft L-shaped room with very little built in light besides a single ceiling light on one end of the L and a ceiling fan on the other end of the L (shown here in small and large yellow circles, respectively). However, right at the interior corner of the L shaped room, there is a "Display Ledge" about 20" below the ceiling (shown here in red). I recently rebuilt it with several outlets and light fixtures up there on a dimmable switch.

I want to install some Uplighting on top of it to help light that dead corner of the room. However, there isn't a lot of head clearance so the uplighting will be projecting out into the room at kind of a shallow angle. My initial idea was a couple of aimable spotlights/tracklights, coupled with a light panel for uplighting above the ledge.

Where can I go to shop for lighting in this application, is there terminology that I might want to know for this application, and what are your more creative ideas? I generally avoid modern design features and go for vintage.
