Hey guys, I'm about to start playing Deltarune and I've heard that your vessel and save files can affect how your game goes. Can someone give me a briefing on how exactly these work? If it helps I'd like to do one normal route, a weird route, and any other significantly differing route. (note I also play on switch and have 2 profiles so 6 Save Files I can use)
I'm designing an Undertale AU (alternate universe) called DualiTale. This is gonna be a long monologue about my nerdy AU characters so if ur not patient myb leave lol. I'll do the characters more or less one by one but first the core idea.
The human\player (Frisk) in this universe has become bored with the given Pacifist, Neutral and Genocide routes, similar to Flowey. Flowey also gives Frisk advice and encourages them to find new entertainment. Because of this, not out of any desire for good or evil, just out of curiosity, Frisk decides to see what would happen if endless RESETs we're performed. Frisk journeys through timelines, each time RESETing before the route is completed. Flowey retains his memories from past timelines (as usual). (From now on I will refer to the characters as Duality versions of them (Dcharacter for short) to mark their changes from canon standard characters.) For awhile, nothing happens, but Duality Sans starts to get a feeling he's seen this human before every time he meets them in snowdin. These feelings only grow, until eventually, in one True Pacifist timeline his memories of every timeline, Genocide, Pacifist, and Neutral, return fully. Emotionally crippled by the betrayal of his friend Frisk, he decides he needs to kill Frisk. Permanently.
The next time Duality Frisk RESETs, Duality Sans is waiting for them at the flower patch they wake up on. He has stolen the human SOULs from Duality Asgore and absorbed them in order to gain godlike power. The SOULs make half of his face a pure black glitched mess, with a orange eye instead of the regulator blue. Since DSans stole the Souls before Duality Frisk fell into the underground, the timeline is already corrupted. Wielding the power of the souls, Sans fights DFrisk who is helped by DFlowey, who wants to keep his playmate alive. DSans eventually wins, however not by killing DFrisk. He gains control over the Save File and deletes DFrisk and DFlowey's physical form. DSans uses his power to merge the souls of DFrisk and DFlowey, with DFrisks soul overpowering DFloweys monster soul. DSans then traps the merged, bodyless soul in a small white box (everyone knows souls can't go through white)
That's what happens to Sans and Frisk. Here's what became of some of the other characters!
TORIEL is grieved at the loss of another human and ex husbamd. She becomes enraged at DSans, as she and all the other characters except DSans, DFrisk and DFlowey have no memory of the past timelines. As new queen, she charges DSans with murder and sentences him to death. DSans, unable to defend his actions without sounding insane, goes into hiding in the depths of Waterfall. Eventually Toriels rage subsides and she calls the search off to focus on her duties as queen.

Duality is the Sans from a timeline where the human did so many RESETs that Sans gained a lingering feeling that he needed to betray the promise he made to Toriel. So, fighting against his promise to be a good person and SPARE the human, Sans stole the 6 human SOULs from Asgore and with their power transformed into DualitySans. His appearance stems from the SOULs searching his monster SOUL and manifesting the struggle between his promise and his rage at being RESET thousands of times. Using the human SOULs, Sans withstands the next RESET and confronts the human at the flower patch in the Ruins. Pre-fight Dialogue goes something like this:
Hey, buddy. You sure like that button, don't you?
Heh. *Blank eyes* You ever wonder what would happen when you pushed me to the brink of insanity?
...
Guess you did. Now...
I've got a BONE to pick with you.
*FIGHT START*
Last chance bud. Quit and never come back...
*a small barely noticeable thing in the corner reads: file saved*
OR I'LL MAKE SURE YOU NEVER COME BACK.
*Human attacks and one shots, like Sans at end of genocide run.*

*starts to dissolve*

CANT GET RID OF ME THAT EASY.
After this he explains during the fight everything I told you at the top. If you try to attack him he grabs your SOUL and makes you hit yourself and says "Hey buddy, you shouldn't beat yourself up like that." He attacks without a border to where your SOUL can move, with a variety of moves like Duality themed gaster blasters and one attack where you need to get inside a hollow white moving square before the whole screen goes white.
