CPI week 👀 Economic calendar for Oct 12–16

Sharing this week’s news calendar. All times are ET.

Wednesday has CPI at 8:30 AM, followed by PPI and retail sales on Thursday at 8:30 AM. Those are the releases I’m watching most closely.

If you’re trading a prop account, double-check your firm’s news trading rules before the releases.

Anyone trading NQ through CPI, or waiting for the initial move to settle?

I keep seeing “perp prop firms” everywhere. What are they, exactly?

I’m familiar with the usual futures prop firm model, but I’ve recently started seeing names like MyFundedPerps, Tradeify 24/7 and Best Markets come up in conversations about perp prop firms.

What does a perp prop firm actually let you trade, and how does its model differ from a traditional futures, CFD and crypto prop firm?

I’m especially curious about how the evaluation, drawdown rules and payouts work. Are traders generally trading perpetual contracts, or is “perp prop” being used more broadly?

Would appreciate explanations from people who’ve looked into these firms or tried one

Why did Nasdaq, gold and silver all drop so hard?

Rising oil prices and US bond yields spooked markets. Higher yields can weigh on tech stocks like those in the Nasdaq, while making gold and silver less attractive because they don’t pay interest. Oil-driven inflation also raised fears the Fed may keep rates high or hike again. That pressure, plus selling after recent gains, hit silver especially hard.

Geopolitical tension usually helps gold, but this time the worry was that it could push inflation and interest rates higher.

Gold and silver are getting hit hard today. What’s the actual catalyst?

What did I miss? Gold and silver are both selling off sharply, and I’m trying to understand what’s driving the move.

Is it mainly rates and the dollar, traders unwinding crowded positions, or a specific headline or data release? If you’ve found a clear catalyst, share it. I’m seeing plenty of guesses, but I’d like to know what’s actually behind the timing.

im thinking to buy the dip, waiting for things to settle.

Intraday trailing DD vs EOD DD - what do you guys actually prefer?

I've been looking at different futures prop firms lately and one thing I've noticed is how much the drawdown model changes the whole experience.

You've got firms/plans like:

Intraday trailing DD:

  • Apex Trading Intraday
  • Take Profit Trader Pro (Funded account)
  • Lucid Daily
  • My funded futures Rapid

And then you've got the EOD DD style:

  • Tradeify
  • Funded Next Futures
  • Lucid Trading Flex, Pro
  • My Funded Futures Rapid EOD, Builder and Pro

Personally, I find the difference way bigger than it looks on paper.

With intraday trailing DD, you can be up nicely on a trade, have the drawdown move up, and then suddenly a normal pullback can become a problem. Especially if you're trading multiple contracts.

With EOD DD, it feels like you have a bit more breathing room during the session since the trailing level isn't constantly moving up with every new high.

But I'm curious what other traders think.

If the account size, profit target and payout rules were roughly the same, which would you choose?

Intraday trailing DD or EOD DD?

And more importantly, has the drawdown model ever been the reason you lost an account?

Why Most Traders Fail (It’s Not the Strategy)

Most traders don’t fail because of a bad strategy.

They fail because *fear, greed, ego, overtrading, and revenge trading* destroy their execution.

In this video, I break down the trading psychology behind why traders blow accounts — especially when trading *futures, NQ, and prop firm challenges* — and why learning to control yourself can matter more than constantly searching for another strategy.

We’ll talk about:

• Fear and hesitation after taking losses
• Greed and refusing to take profits
• Revenge trading after a bad trade
• Overtrading and forcing setups that aren’t there
• Ego and the need to be “right” about the market
• Risk management and protecting your account
• Why traders abandon good strategies during losing streaks
• How psychology affects execution
• Lessons I’ve learned from my own trading experiences

If you find yourself **switching strategies after every losing streak**, increasing your size to make losses back, or letting emotions change the way you trade — this video is for you.

Anyone here actually using Funded Seat?

Been seeing Funded Seat mentioned a lot more recently and I’m thinking about testing one of their accounts.

The daily payout side sounds good, but I’m more interested in hearing from people who’ve actually traded it.

How are payouts?
Any annoying rules that aren’t obvious at first?
How’s the support?
And would you buy another Funded Seat account after using it?

Not really looking for promo answers, just actual trader experience.

Lucid just brought back the Live Cash Out option

Pretty interesting update from Lucid Trading today.

They said they’ve been moving around 300 traders live every week, but the live account numbers haven’t been great:

• 50% of live accounts are blown in a single day
• 48% are blown on the first day
• Only 18% actually get a payout
• Average live account lasts around 3 days

So they’re bringing back an optional cash-out when you’re selected to move live.

Instead of taking the live account, you can choose to cash out 50% of the live drawdown you would’ve been allocated, paid according to the applicable profit split.

You can still choose the live account if you want. The cash-out is completely optional, and Lucid says choosing either option won’t affect whether you later return to sim or become a Maxxer.

I actually like this update. If someone knows they’re not ready for live yet, taking guaranteed money instead of blowing the account in 1–3 days makes a lot of sense lol.

Would you take the cash or go live?

Weekly Bias for NQ

ES
Currently trading inside the daily SIBI. We also have SMT with NQ, while YM is looking especially weak. If this bearish orderflow continues, I’m mainly looking for price to work lower toward the August Monthly Open.

NQ
Price is sitting inside the 27 Aug NWOG right now. I’m watching this area for rejection. If it holds as resistance, my main downside targets are PML first and then the August Monthly Open.

YM
Probably the weakest looking of the three right now. Structure still looks bearish and it’s helping confirm the overall downside bias for me.

Main idea for the week is simple:

Bearish bias
NQ/ES monthly open as key downside targets
Watching NWOG/SIBI for rejection
FOMC week, so expecting volatility

Are futures prop firms actually legit?

I’ve traded with multiple prop firms and I think the answer is yes, but not all of them.

Most funded accounts are simulated, so a $50K account doesn’t mean they’re handing you $50K in live capital.

What matters more is whether they actually pay traders, have clear rules, decent support and a business model that can survive long term.

I made a video breaking down how prop firms work, sim vs live accounts, personal funds vs prop funds, and what I check before trusting one

Funded Next Futures New 50k Instant Funding Plan

Funded Next Futures Lab Account $149.99 for a 50K EOD, 90% reward share, payouts every 5 days and DLL is a soft breach.

The 20% consistency + $1,200 max withdrawal are the main things I’d watch.

Would you take this over a normal futures eval?

Code KAGE if you’re getting one.

Why I would pick LucidFlex if my goal was to take regular payouts

I have been looking at a lot of futures prop plans and most of them sound good until you actually get funded.

Then there is a consistency rule. A buffer. A fixed payout day. Trailing drawdown.

That is why I like LucidFlex.

On the 50K, I just need 5 days of $150+ and positive profit in the cycle.

No funded consistency rule.
No buffer to maintain.
No waiting for a payout window.

For me, that is much easier to trade.

I can take my normal setups, aim for around $300-$400 a day, and after 5 days I am at $2K profit. I can request $1000, get $900 after the split, then do it again.

I know Flex is not for people trying to pull $5K every week but for beginner its the best and cheapest plan.

also if you are newer and want to build the habit of taking clean, regular payouts without forcing trades to satisfy consistency, I honestly think Flex is one of the better plans.

That is why I would choose it over a higher-cap account with annoying payout rules.

Anyone here trading Flex already? How has the payout process been for you?

FTMO Futures Pro might actually be one of the better 50K plans right now

I was going through the FTMO Futures plans properly and the 50K Pro caught my attention.

$3K target
$3K drawdown
$1K hard DLL
50% consistency only on the eval
No consistency rule once you are Sim-Funded
5 qualifying days
$5K payout cap

But the part that stands out is after passing.

You can request up to 100% of your profit.

Yes, it is still a 90/10 split. But most firms make you wait for profitable days and then only let you pull 50% of the profit with a small cap.

Here, if you build up $5K profit, you can request the full $5K and receive $4.5K.

The hard DLL is the only real trade-off. But for a $3K target and $3K drawdown, a $1K daily limit seems manageable if you are not gambling.

Anyone else think FTMO finally made a genuinely competitive futures plan?
