How to ask a guy at the gym out.

Similar to a post on r/askdatingadvice. How would teenage boys feel if a girl asked them out at the gym?

I am a 17 year old girl who started a convo with my gym crush. I ask him for advice about an exercise and he was quite talkative and helpful. I ended the convo and asked for his name, he gave it but didn't ask for mine. Is this a sign he is not very interested?

I really want to ask how younger men would feel if an average looking girl asked them out. How would you like her to do it? I would also like to know what subtle ways I could find out his age and relationship status because I don't want to make anyone ubcomfortable. Given the double standard against men I assume the cards are tilted more in my favour than if I were to be a guy but I also know teenagers are a different breed and I am nervous about him feeling insulted if he thinks I am ugly. Again I don't think I am ugly but a few guys have called me chopped while others have approached/complimented so I am probably somewhere in the middle and won't anger him. Do tell me how you think I should ask for the date. Thanks:)

How to ask my gym crush out

I am a 17 year old girl. Recently I have been noticing a very cute guy who is my type frequenting the gym. Today I decided to go up to him and ask for advice about an exercise he was doing to ensure he isn't a horrible asshole. He was quite informative and helpful, telling me about the pros and cons of said exercise. We spoke for abit and I ended with asking his name. He didn't ask for mine but I told him anyway, then ran outside to scream with relief.

Having established acquaintenceship, how do I ask him on a date? Specifically, what are subtle ways I can sniff out his age and relationship status? How would teenage boys feel if I asked them out? Given the double standard against men, I would assume the cards are tilted in my favour than if I were a guy-but I am scared since teenagers tend to be more toxic and might blow up. I would say I am average looking, a short asian girl with a baby face and childish features. A few guys have called me chopped but I have also been approached and complimented a couple times so I am hoping I'm not ugly and he won't be mortally offended. Also if he thought I was an ogre he wouldn't have spoken to me right... please advise me, especially helping me understand how he would feel and likely react.
