How Do You Deal With People Questioning Your B12 Treatment?

Hello everyone. I’m a 22M currently living away from my hometown for my studies. I live with a roommate in a 1BHK.

I have been dealing with a severe/long-standing vitamin B12 deficiency. I’ve been taking 2,500 mcg of methylcobalamin by injection every other day for the last three months, and honestly, I’ve finally started feeling like myself again after 5–6 years. I know I still have a long way to go, but this improvement has meant a lot to me.

The problem is that the person who gives me my injections has started questioning why I need so many injections. The same thing happens with my family and friends. They’re genuinely concerned and keep asking why I need injections so frequently, and it’s becoming difficult to explain it repeatedly.

I also can’t self-administer the injections because I’m a student and don’t feel comfortable doing them myself. Going to someone for an injection every other day is becoming quite hectic.

I’d really appreciate hearing from people who have been through something similar.

When will it get better?

I'm 22M . My b12 was 212 ng/l which i checked in April last . But I think I have symptoms from my 8th standard. From there I have been on 2500 mcg methylcoblamin injection eod . Along with the cofactor like magnesium, potassium, iron .

It's been 2.5 months since starting treatment but honestly I'm tired .

I experience almost every symptom I’ve had before, but the worst part is that they are now affecting every area of my life. It feels like I’m completely stuck no matter what I try to do.

I’ve been going to the gym regularly for 6 months, but I’ve seen almost no results. My left hand hurts so much that I can’t make any progress. I don't know what it is it's like nerves palm from shoulder to wrist and hand .

My right side neck gets tightened even 3 or 4 days which causes problems movement.

When I’m enjoying time with someone, a sudden wave of sadness hits me out of nowhere.

If someone makes fun of me, I can’t respond or stand up for myself. I become too emotional, my mind goes blank, and I can’t find the right words. Duw to which I can't live peacefully everyone walks over me even the really good friends.

I get extremely nervous when talking to people. Because of this, I still haven’t been able to confess my feelings to the girl I really like, even after 6 months. Like she is the most perfect girl i have ever seen like I'm not being obsessive but I really like her ( hope u get it ) i will really be in a lifetime regret if I can't do something about it. I’m scared I’ll freeze up and won’t know what to say.

I can’t fall asleep at a reasonable time even when I try. It's like i can't put my phone down even if I want, like something else to force me to scroll through.

Studying feels incredibly difficult. It takes enormous effort just to understand basic concepts, and I struggle with simple math.

I frequently get confused about directions, even on roads or routes I’ve taken many times before.

I look older than my age, and there’s always a sad expression on my face. I feel hatred towards myself when i look at the mirror sometime.( I don't know even if these are related to b12 deficiency)

Even when someone is mean to me, I often end up crying.

I’m trapped in loops of procrastination and masturbation throughout the day.

Things sometimes improve for a short while, but then I fall back into the same cycle.

I constantly see my friends going out with their girlfriends, making their parents proud, and living confidently, while I can’t seem to do even one thing successfully. It’s exhausting and heartbreaking. It feels like someone has put a curse or “black magic” on me — every part of my life feels blocked.

Will it get good for me ever ?

I not able to tolerate the aftermath of starting treatment?

I've been in treatment for 2.5 months . but I'm struggling badly with the aftermath. I feel overwhelmed and sometimes like I don't want to love anymore. For the past week, I've been extremely sensitive and emotional. Even when friends tease me (mostly disrespectfully), I freeze up, can't speak, and start crying. In class, I can't understand math problems anymore, and my memory is terrible — I forget what the teacher said just five minutes earlier. I don't feel like going to coaching anymore. I panic when I have to meet people or talk to someone, and I get sudden fear when I try to stand up for myself. Even during fun evenings with friends where I'm also joking around, I suddenly go blank, and then the teasing turns into bullying. I m mentally ducked up , I can't even think straight for 5 minutes . I'm having frequent sidal thoughts and I feel like shit. Can anyone please help or advise me on what I should do? Did anyone had similar condition or symptoms during before or after treatment?

Memory worsening after switching to frequent methylcobalamin injections — wake-up symptoms or something else?

Hi everyone,

My b12 was around 220ng/l

I received around 15-18 injections of 1500 mcg methylcobalamin during June. They helped my symptoms a bit, including some improvement in my memory problems.

The injections were given randomly (not daily or EOD), and after that I had a break of about 1 week. For the last 20 days I've been doing 2500 mcg methylcobalamin injections every other day (EOD).

However, my memory has started feeling worse again. Could this be a "wake-up" / paradoxical reaction (where symptoms temporarily worsen as the body starts healing)?

For those who have recovered their memory/cognition — how long did it take for you? Did you also experience a period where things felt worse before they got better?

Any experiences or advice would be really appreciated. Thank you!

Shoulder-to-thumb radiating pain during chest press + wrist pain after short bike rides – could this be B12 related?

Pain that starts in my shoulder, runs down to the elbow/brachialis area, and goes all the way to my thumb, specifically when doing chest press (bench press) at the gym. It feels like it's following a nerve path.( Left side)

Recently, wrist pain kicks in after just 10 minutes of riding my bike/motorcycle (gripping handlebars).( Right hand )

Does anyone of u face it , is it related to b12 deficiency. How will it take to recover?

Burning fingertips + painful/hardened feet during B12 injections + cofactor?

Hi everyone,

I'm currently treating a B12 deficiency with injections, and cofactor .I've been on this regimen to correct my levels, but I'm experiencing some new or ongoing symptoms that are worrying me.

Fingertips: Mild burning sensation.

Feet (especially lower parts): They hurt when I press on them, and the skin feels hardened or tough, almost like the sensation before or during a blister forming.

Has anyone else dealt with this during B12 recovery? Is this a common part of nerve healing (like a temporary worsening), or could it point to something else I should get checked? Any tips for relief or things that helped you?

Thanks in advance — really appreciate this community!

B12 Deficiency - My Short-Term Memory & Cognitive Issues (Forgetting Names, Instructions, Paths). What Were Yours and How Long Until Improvement?

(used gpt for correction ) ? Hey everyone,

I've been dealing with what I believe are B12 deficiency symptoms, especially cognitive and memory-related ones. I have significant short-term memory problems:

Forgetting people's names shortly after hearing them

Forgetting where I put things or what was involved in recent tasks

Having to repeat information to myself multiple times just to remember it, and still forgetting it soon after

Trouble understanding and following instructions (even simple ones)

Difficulty remembering paths/routes (getting lost or forgetting directions I've taken before)

Has anyone else experienced similar memory and cognitive symptoms from B12 deficiency?

If so, what were your main issues, and how long after starting treatment (injections, sublingual, etc.) did you notice improvements? Any timeline for memory recovery would be really helpful — weeks, months, or longer?

Thanks in advance! Feeling pretty frustrated with this brain fog and hoping for some positive stories.

1.5 Months Into B12 Injections: Neck Locking, Arm Pain, and No Gym Progress from 6 months ?

(used gpt for corrections )

I started B12 injections about 1.5 months ago. Since then, I've been experiencing neck stiffness and occasional neck locking. Before starting treatment, I didn't have pain on my right side, but now my right wrist starts hurting even after riding my bike for just 10 minutes.

I also have pain in my left arm that runs from my fingers through my forearm and up to my shoulder. It hurts a lot, especially during pushing movements at the gym (bench press, shoulder press, etc.).

I've been consistently going to the gym for the past 6 months, following a diet and exercise plan, but I feel completely stuck. For example, I can't seem to progress beyond a 15 kg bench each side press, and physically I look almost the same as I did 6 months ago despite my efforts.

Has anyone experienced worsening muscle/joint pain, nerve pain, or neck issues after starting B12 injections? Is this something that can happen during recovery, or could it be unrelated to the B12 treatment?

Has anyone with B12 deficiency experienced a major worsening of symptoms after stopping treatment/routine for just 1–2 days?

I was doing daily B12 injections (1500 mcg), methylfolate, magnesium, exercise, and a personal routine that helped me stay disciplined. Around Day 6 I was actually noticing better sleep, less anxiety, improved concentration, and better motivation.

Then for Days 7–8 I stopped injections, supplements, exercise, and my routine. Within 24–48 hours I experienced:

Severe brain fog (7/10+)

Dizziness all day

Neck/nerve pain

Constipation/stomach issues

Extreme emotional swings

Strong urge to stay in bed and not get up

Feeling mentally "out of control"

Passive suicidal thoughts

Much stronger compulsive masturbation urges and loss of self-control. I feel so bad that I m a zombie and someone else is inside my body , like something is forcing me to not do b12 injections.

Has anyone else experienced such a rapid change after missing treatment for a day or two? I'm trying to understand whether this sounds like B12 deficiency recovery, methylfolate/B12 fluctuations, withdrawal from routine, or something else ?

Experiencing "wake up" symptoms + loss of initial energy "kick" after starting consistent B12 injections + cofactors — normal or something to adjust ?

My serum B12 was 222 ng/L on April 27. After finding this sub I started B12 injections. I took roughly 15 shots, but very irregularly at first — sometimes 2 EOD, then 3 in a row, then gaps again.

For the last 3 days I’ve been consistent with 1500 mcg B12 injections daily, plus cofactors (iron started 3 days ago, magnesium, electrolytes, folate, etc.) based on advice here.

What I’ve noticed:

In the very beginning, each shot gave me an immediate “kick” — more energy, mental clarity, words came easier, I could reply to people quickly It felt great.

Now that I’m regular and consistent, I’m a bit more stable than earlier like not too much energy h (which is awesome), but I’ve lost that initial energetic kick. Instead I’m getting what feels like “wake up”/repletion symptoms: nerve pains popping up in different areas of the body, occasional headaches, electric/zapping sensations, etc. i feel like crying the weather feels very indifferent to me .

My question: Is this normal when you go from irregular to consistent high-dose B12 + cofactors? Why did the strong positive effect fade and get replaced by these new sensations?

I’m hoping it’s just my body adjusting to proper repetition now that levels are actually rising steadily and cofactors are in place. Any experiences or insights would be really helpful. Thanks everyone!

Why does B12 deficiency affect people so differently?

My B12 level was 220 ng/L, and I had almost every symptom imaginable, many of them quite severe. On the other hand, my friend had a B12 level of only 125 ng/L but doesn't seem to have a single symptom.

I've seen many similar examples where people with higher B12 levels have worse symptoms than those with much lower levels.

We are both vegetarians and live in India.

Why does this happen? Is it because of differences in how long someone has been deficient, individual sensitivity, genetics, folate/iron status, or something else?

Should I switch back to Vitamin D injections from oral supplements? Had 8 ng/ml levels

was severely deficient with Vitamin D levels at 8 ng/ml. My doctor gave me a 60,000 IU injection in the first week, and I felt noticeable benefits pretty quickly.

After that, I switched to oral supplements mainly because I'm already doing EOD (every other day) B12 injections and didn't want to deal with more shots. But honestly, I'm not seeing much improvement or benefit from the oral D supplements. It feels like they're not absorbing well or doing much for me. I m taking 60000 iu pills every week with fats from 3 weeks .

Has anyone else been in a similar situation?

Did switching back to injections help sustain the benefits better?

Is there a reason oral might not work well for some people (malabsorption, etc.)?

Any experiences comparing the two for severe deficiency?

Am i doing it all aright or change something

I'm taking 1500 mcg twice with 2500 mcg hydrixicolobim in between. Over a week .

With cofactor like

DHA – 200 mg

L-Methylfolate – 1 mg

Vitamin B6 (P5P) – 0.5 mg

Methylcobalamin (Vitamin B12) – 1500 mcg

Elemental Magnesium – 440 mg daily

Ferrous Ascorbate (Iron) – 100 mg

Zinc – 22.5 mg

Vitamin d tabs -60.000 weekly

Some of which are combined tabs

I still have symptoms not much difference after taking cofactor but i developed pimples after starting from 3 days . What else should I add or remove or how much should i increase or decrease or should I take some tabs separately. what should I do while not taking the cofactor I had sudden honeymoon periods but didn't develop pimples ; any solution for that ?

Why is repeat value of honey singh High than his counterparts?

The replay value of Yo Yo Honey Singh songs feels unusually high compared to many of his counterparts. Even when some tracks seem average or repetitive at first, they somehow grow on listeners over time. Songs like Brown Rang, Desi Kalakaar, tracks from the Glory album, or even Kalaastar often become more enjoyable with repeated listening instead of becoming boring . even though badshah and raftaar has given commercial like Ghana kasoota ,badshah been the biggest commercial rapper in recent years still we don't repeat his songs ever after getting billion views ?
