we sleep trained our 5mo a little over a week ago. DWT is 7, schedule is 2/2.5/2.5/3. initially she was reliably sleeping until 7, but the last week has been waking between 5:30-6:30. the problem is that every day is different, so i can’t figure out the issue.
sometimes her first two naps are 90 minutes (then the last will be 20ish min). sometimes all naps are 40 minutes. sometimes the first nap is longer, sometimes the second. i have no clue how to drill down on the issue.
i have a 5mo. since ST this weekend, we are already seeing longer naps (praise!!). and now i’m already looking ahead to the next boss.
for context, DWT is 7 am. if she sleeps 90 minutes for first two naps, then we are looking at a 30min catnap at 5 pm—but then an 8:30 bedtime which is a little late, considering she’s definitely capable of sleeping at night for longer.
do i already start lengthening WWs? we just recently dropped the fourth nap.
i’m going back to work next week after 5 months. my freezer stash is largely unusable due to late-diagnosed CMPA. i’m worried about being able to pump enough to keep up with my baby—we currently give her a 7oz bottle before bed, and that alone takes at least two pumping sessions. how have others dealt with a return to work?
my 20w EBF baby eats roughly every 3 hours, or whenever she wakes from a nap. her naps are short (40min), so that feed schedule hasn’t been an issue.
but now we are sleep training, and i’m wondering what happens if/when her naps start to lengthen. for example, today she went down around 9a. she woke after 35min but put herself back to sleep after 12min of fussing and slept for ~45 minutes. so while she’d typically eat around 10:15, she ate at 10:40. next nap was at 1, but she needed to eat at 1:45 so i got her up after the first sleep cycle rather than wait to see if she could connect again. but i obviously want her to connect cycles and consolidate sleep during the day. so how are others handling feed schedules while maintaining Eat Play Sleep?
i’m sure im overthinking this but our nanny starts next week and i need to think through this stuff!
